fucken shit shit shit shit shit. i stripped the brake bleeder on my bike sunday. Really pissed me off. i shoulda known. ive done it a millions times, and this time i guess i just tryed to hard. so has this ever happened to anyone?? if so, what was the outcome??

after work im gonna check it out to see if i stripped the bolt or the threads on the caliper. im hoping it was the bolt so i just have to buy a new one. if it is the caliper, then i guess ill have to wither buy a new one, or try to re-thread it or something.

fyi, this is the one of the front calipers on an 03 zxr6 636

damn, im really hoping its just the bleeder and not the caliper.

i went home last night and checked it out. it looks like i might still be able to salavage it. the threads on the caliper don't seem that bad and it looks like i might have done more damage to the bleeder bolt threads. im gonna try and get some news ones from kawi today. we'll see what happens.......

thanks for the info guys. i called kawi today, they didn't have the originals, but had some speedbleeders, which would probably work better becuase thats how i fucked them up to began with. so, im about to leave work here in about 5 min, go home, try them out. im crosing my fingers that i didn't damage the calipers threads too much. thats the only thing im worried about. i went out last night and watched em stunt, all i could think about was my bike and how bad i wanted to endo that bitch. anyways, wish me luck. i let you know tomm. how it turns out.

maybe put some teflon tape in the thread area..........

i was thinking that too. the speedbleeder already came with some sort of red coored sealant on the threads. the one that i stripped out, i noticed when i went to bleed again, that fluid was not coming out of the bleeder, but the threads, and its was red colored. so i tried to bleed it thru the threads if that makes sense. i did that twice, then test drove. the more i hit the brakes the better they felt. till now they a re almost on the money, but still not 100%. so im gonna be lookin into new calipers here soon. but i did get it working at about 90% for now.

NEVER put teflon tape on brake fittings!! The brake fluid will dissolve the teflon and can get in the brake system causing all kinds of problems!!
If the bleeder isn't leaking you don't need a new caliper, bleed it properly and you should be fine. If you're not sure bring it by and we'll look at it no charge.

Thanks for the advice Patrick. i'll keep that in mind. im going thru some stuff right now, so i'll probably be cagin it for a while, but i want to get out this weekend. so im gonna feel it out over the next few weeks and see how it goes. I want to see if these new bleeders hold up. So im gonna see what happens over the next couple weeks and go from there.

again, thanks for all your help guys. :notworthy:

well, theres no more brakefluid coming out of the bleeder anymore with the new bleeders, but after bleeding it several times, it still feels like shit. i think theres still air in it but not sure, its really starting to piss me off now cuase ive never had this problem. i got new calipers ordered but they wont be here for 2 weeks or so. i think im gonna put on the new calipers and see what happens, if its still fucked up, im gonna take it to kawa and say fix it so i can endo again.
