Chip off the old block....as wierd as that sounds, its a true statement.* Let me explain....
We were doing our check ups before the ride, i.e tire pressure, gas, adjustments.* Well I was checking the slack on my chain, and notice it was kinda sagging to much.* Well as a NoOb rider, i proceeded to tight the chain.* After I thought I made the right adjustment, I sat on the bike and did not notice or realize that when you sit on the bike the chain even gets tighter...well after riding for about a couple of hours...we were heading home....
....going about 90mph, and a friend of mine with another r6 gets next to me...we look at eachother and (click click, down shifting to 3rd) and just gun it....jump from 90mph to about 125mph and BAM chain just snapped....shit was scary!* I could have got my leg cut off, lol.* Well when the chain snapped, it smacked the block and chipped it right next to the front sprocket. ("chip off the old block")* So now i have a hole about the size of a dime in the area where the front sprocket is...(block/transmission?) Oil everywhere.....not good!
My Questions:
1) Could I drop the motor and get a welder to weld a cap over the small hole since its only about the size of a dime?* Does anyone know any welders that can do this?* What type of Metal is it?
2) Should I just replace the block/transmission?* Is it even called the block/transmission?* It's chipped right next to where the front sprocket is.*
Thanks in advance for all you help! :icon_thumright:
