Hi, my name's rob, and i'm an alcoholic.
hehe just kidding.* *:keke:
I just learned to ride a few months back when I went to Thailand on vacation from work, I work overseas in Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
I learned on a this CBR 250 and I fell in love with it.* I will be buying a bike when I get home in November for a couple months.* I'm excited about it and can't wait to return.* Hopefully I can meet a few of you and ride with you.* I'm using message boards and websites as an information source for any and all knowledge that I can use.

that 250 was so much fun. i rented it for 3 weeks and it was only 50 bucks! best part about it was that i layed it down 3 times, and only 1 time fairly hard. i broke the clutch and brake handle, fairing on the left, gear selector and the left blinker... and they only charged me 150 bucks to fix it!

actually... mostly just new rider stupidity.

1)
i gave it too much throttle while waiting at a stop for traffic to pass, i didn't get any time to correct it, and went straight into a thorn bush wearing nothing but shorts and wifebeater lol

2) i headed towards a parking area to use the internet cafe, there was a hill to the parking area and i hit the brakes too much... so i was stuck on the hill... well without any throttle experience, i didn't know how much to give it while i was sitting on the incline ( no experience so i didn't really know where to give it gas and where to release the cluth without falling back down the hill ) so i finally gave it some juice and it was too much, so the nose lifted and threw me backwards. i held on to the bars and quickly adjusted to keep the bike up (miraculously).

3) the "bad" one

i was pulling up to traffic and decided to lean up against a curb with my foot. dumb idea, hehe. well when i got to the curb, my rear tire slid into the drainage area and my front tire stayed on the paved road. when traffic started moving, i hit the gas to go and my rear tire fish tailed left, and then right again and i gave it more juice to try to correct (another bad idea) and it slid out from under me about 10 feet until i let go of the handlebars when i saw a truck coming in my direction in the oncoming traffic lane. the bike slid under the truck and i rolled about 30 feet. just some road rash, nothing broken and a lot of embarrassment.

sounds like a good time :icon_thumright: at least you realize what you did wrong, but one thing you might want to remember, that 03 zx-6rr you where looking at on this bored is gonna be a lot faster then the bike you where on ;) so be more careful with that throttle. but if your planning on taking the msf class they will teach you everything you need to know to start riding. (next time your taking off on an incline you should try staying on the brakes a bit so the bike dosnt go roll back and then y ou dont have to give it as much gas)

I left that helmet there lol, it didn't have any protection for the face so i gave it away. :dontknow:

I'd much rather have better protection, and plan on getting some gear soon. I'll start looking at local shops the day after I get home. I think I remember a few of them off i-45.

ArturoC

Did you ever have to add any 2-stroke oil?

fuknrobert
05-22-2006, 01:58 PM
nope, all i ever added was the bottles of fuel.. i don't even know what kind of fuel it was because i bought it at little huts off the side of the road. they sold them out of old coke and sprite glass bottles. it was like a buck a litre
