I had to google his name to figure out who he was. I had heard the name, but just wasn't sure where. Upcoming batman movie is all I knew.

haha! I never saw brokeback. He was in "The 10 things I hate about you" and "The Brothers Grimm". Also, a skater movie- can't remember the name. He had a daughter, Matilda- 2. This is very sad. I would never have guessed. I'm willing to bet his name didn't come up on any death polls for the year. Very sad.

If a movie only has 4 months until release typically its already in post production, Id say we are pretty safe to say Ledgers role was complety shot. Now if WB decides to still release it or not........

I don't see why they wouldn't with it already in the can!

They did the same thing with Aaliyah in "Queen of the Damned". She was killed before editing was done, so if i'm not mistaken her brother was brought in for a few voice overs, but her scenes weren't removed and the movie was dropped with no problems

but on the flip she finished shooting the matrix scenes for 2 and 3 and they reshot over her part and delayed the release of the movie to do the reshoot without any mention of her :crying:

R u serious! I didn't know that. I heard she got the part but passed away before shooting started and her part was replaced by another model chic! I didn't know they just wrote over her,phuckers!

I'm sad to see him go also, I always thought he was a decent actor with some range. Here's hoping that he did a phenomenal job in The Dark Knight and that his final performance will be memorable as a iconic figure in pop culture...and not a questionable cowboy.

NAPLES, Fla. (Jan. 22) - Republican Fred Thompson, the actor-politician who attracted more attention as a potential presidential candidate than as a real one, quit the race for the White House on Tuesday after a string of poor finishes in early primary and caucus states.

"Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort," the former Tennessee senator said in a brief statement.

Thompson's fate was sealed last Saturday in the South Carolina primary, when he finished third in a state that he had said he needed to win.

In the statement, Thompson did not say whether he would endorse any of his former rivals. He was one of a handful of members of Congress who supported Arizona Sen. John McCain in 2000 in his unsuccessful race against George W. Bush for the party nomination.

Thompson, best known as the gruff district attorney on NBC's "Law & Order," placed third in Iowa and South Carolina, two states seemingly in line with his right-leaning pitch and laid-back style, and fared even worse in the four other states that have held contests thus far. Money already tight, he ran out of it altogether as the losses piled up.

Thompson, 65, exits the most wide open Republican race in half a century; three candidates each having won in the six states that have voted.
