its because the crf comes with vtech. When that big cam kicks in you can do a backflip.

it's a continuation thing. they want kids to start out on a crf, so when they upgrage, they get another crf. it's all in the marketing.

ya pretty much in 04 is when the new crf racing 4stroke bikes came out along with the new plastics style they figured if they can make the trail bike look like the race bikes then they will get better sales... they changed the name to move with the big change of the 4stroke domination
cr was the honda race bike for years (2 stroke) , now that four strokes are the new race bikes they used the cr again with the f on the end to represent four stroke. Thats my guess.
