What mods to get for my 50?

Hey I finally got a 2002 xr50 and ive busted my sh*t too many times already but Im loving it. It came with street tires but i want it dirt ready first then later get it stunt ready.

I need a new chain but I dont know which one to get. I was told 420 78 but im not sure. (It has 1" fork leg extensions and an I-shock in the back)

Do I need to get a chain roller? What about a chain guide? It didnt come with chain adjusters so Im getting those soon. I plan on hitting some good dirt spots in the future, and if anybody knows some good ones please post up where!:nod:

Also, I'd like to have the service manual for the bike but I dont want to pay $40 on ebay or other places. Is there somewhere on the net that maybe would have it downloaded pdf format or something?

You should get the heavy-duty fork springs.

You can buy 420 chains from JC Whitney for about $10. I use them on my XR70 and they work great. You'll probably have to cut it down though.

i just bought a DID gold chain for the 50, fuggin bawlin but 50 fuggin bucks

88cc kit and a rev box
+1 on the D.I.D. chain they make good stuff
tag or renthal sprockets
if you have fork extenders and ishock y ou probably have stiffer springs in the front

you want one heavy duty spring and one stock spring most the hd springs are way to stiff when you first get them and are a nightmare to ride with in dirt. you will want a roller and a chain guide because if your jumping you need to run a looser chain and these will keep the on the sprockets. stock motor is fine for starter will teach you to carry speed in the turns but a manual clutch is almost a must if you plan on ride fast at the track. shinko rear tires or a michelin starcross is good tried the millvilles and wasnt impressed. also we have been running a excella tire and i really like these on the front. and they are pretty cheap. ask javi and true methodz he can get them for you.

its a 50 damn near any 420 chain will work for now. just keep it adjusted and clean and lubed .

why would you wanna put sprockets on a 50. Unless you need to replace them. Also if you dont have it already get a big bar kit. I like most people run the bbr setup.

I went up 3 or 4 on the rear sprocket.The reason was just my personal preference (a little more low end). + 1 on bbr bar kit !

-1 on the bbr kit the bars are weak and bend quit easy . tag,protapers, sik50's, even the red barons are better bars. the bbr clamp is ok but there are alot better options out there for the same price or a little more.

both. metal is weak. the set that was on your bike before it was sold to you was replaced because i bent the bars. mala bent a set my gf has bent a set.

Got the big bar kit. It aint bbr or anything but it gets the job done. Chain on order, and now Im looking for a good deal on roller and guide. Im not looking for anything too expensive and Im not looking to race, I just want to have the bike be able to let loose on dirt!

$79 seems a little too high. they have the Stage 1 kit w/ the stunt pegs for $119 and I save 10 bucks buying both togetherbut it still seems to high?
