So who are you in support of? My favorite was Ron Paul, but it doesn't look like he is going to be representing the Republican side according to the polls of today. So which one of the front runners are you in support of, and what views of theirs are controlling your opinion the most? Looks like Clinton is mopping up the democratic side, so IMO it is getting very important that the Republican is a strong one. I don't know which one at the moment, I am reading up on them and havent' quite decided. Just FYI, I would vote democrat if I felt they were the better candidate, but with Clinton heading up that side, I will be voting Republican no matter who represents that side. If a mod wants to turn this into a poll they can, but for me, I'm looking for more of a discussion.

i'd like to have a way out... someone that actually does what they feel is best for the country... not a hidden aganeda. it's almost like i want to be ignorant of it all because everything about the presidential race pisses me off. but in the end i have to pick the person that i feel will harm the country the least... i have yet to decide who that is

I feel ya on that, I have said in a previous forum that it is like a pageant where every one of them is giving the "World Peace" answer. Try to tell you what you want to hear. The only for sure thing I feel, is I am a die hard against Clinton. Just don't like anything about her as a person, or her husband, and I haven't even read her views. Have no interest to. I sense pure evil in that one.

I guess if I had to vote tomorrow, I would have to throw my lot in on Rudy. The has a good background and education and he is on the same side of the issues that I am on for the most part.

I guess my only concern is whether or not is a true republican or a dem in drag...
I guess time will tell.

Its ok, I think that is un-american to vote party biased, I wouldn't expect any less from you :keke: Hitler would make a fine president......in Cuba...

Yea, Giuliani seems to be the closest to my views also. But, I really like Huckabee's view on the taxes. That has been a huge thing to me for a long time. I don't think he could pull it off, BUT if he could, that could completely change around our economy. I would think for the best. I remember in Economics looking at a report that a flat consumption tax like that could up the governments yearly budget in the hundreds of billions while cutting the mid and lower class' taxes.

Here is my pull for Rudy:
1. Cut taxes 23 time in NYC and turned 2.3 million deficit into multi-billion surplus and BALANCED his budget
2. Wants to win war on terror and a safe return for US troops
3. Support school choice and not "No child left behind"
4. Has never supported gay marriage
5. Supports 2nd amendment rights

These have to be good enough for the job and I just don't see other candidates meeting this top 5.

Yea, it is one of my top issues also. I hate being middle class and being the class hit "Hardest" by taxes. I think it should be an even playing field for everyone and a consumption tax would do just that.

I agree with you on those also. If he had the same idea on taxes as Huckabee, he would be hands down 100% who I would be backing. But man, that tax issue weighs in my head big time. But Rudy is in the lead for me at the moment because of those 5 plus I like his take on immigration and the borders.

Well, the sad thing is that it is all about the party. The president, together with his advisors/cabinet members makes the decisions and needs his/hers party support to pass bills.

Exactly. Both sides have valid points. But one side will reject the other just because of one or two beliefs. It is stupid, it should be American, not republican or democrat. Like Moody said, it shouldn't be the one working the strings on the puppet to get their own agenda. Any and all ideas should be decided by votes of the people. Not what rich idiot got voted into office and which side has more seats.

But my point to sugardaddy is, voting democrat without looking at their agenda is un-american and no better than the crooks that get voted into office. I think voting by just party alone is ignorant IMO. I like guns so I'm gonna vote Republican straight ticket.....yea right.

He is opposed to Bush's new policy of amnesty. He wants to build the fence that has already been approved, employ 20-23k border patrol officers, and tighten up the watch on expired visas. One of the candidates wants a no nonsense immediate deportation of illegals caught in criminal activity, but i can't remember if it is this guy or not.

My issue is that I am 'in the middle' overall. I have strong views on either side, so going either democratic or republican is not my preferred solution. These Internet tests tell me that I am more democratic, but for example, my views on illigal immigration are anything but democratic and I feel very strongly about it.

I guess in the end we have to go with the candidate that represents most of our strongest views and just hope for the best.

I'm a Libertarian ... no one on either the Democrat or the Republican ticket has anything substantial to offer. Whatever it is they are saying in public is just whatever they think the public wants to hear. Have anything they've actually done in the past reflects what they are saying now?

I think it's time we start looking elsewhere. I know a lot of people laugh at me for voting independant ... but at least I can say that I voted for who I thought best represented my interests ... and not just give the old ... "oh I just voted for the lesser of two evils"

We both know it is never guaranteed. But at least his idea is in tact. Did you know the budget was aproved in '06 and only a few dozen miles of fence have been built and it was approved to build over 700 miles of it? someone needs to put a fire under their ass.

Problem is, the way the government is set up, even if an independent got voted in, there would be a problem. The house, and the senate are all made up of democrat/republicans. They still have a vote on the stuff. The president doesn't have enough power to go rogue and make all these decisions on his own. Can you imagine the retaliation of the two parties on everything he wants to do? He wouldn't have the backing of either side. It would be the House and Senate vs. the president instead of Democrat/republican which for the most part is kept rather even.
