Bye Rio Bravo MX track...for now at least.

I don't know exactly why it is changing hands, but hopefully it stays with the MX community.

Hey remember when they got flooded really bad a few years back?
They rescued the old man and his dawgs off the roof of the shed with a boat....

That place has some great history. I watched Bob Hannah and other top pros race a MX national back in '78 when I was a boy! Over the years people have offered to purchase it for good money but original owners wouldn't sell it. Last time I rode there was back in '02. It was looking pretty rough then. They only prepped the track on race day and the supercross track was unridable. But when it was nice and prepped I loved that track!

damn that sucks. that was the only track that you could go ride at on just about any day at anytime.

I loved that track too. I remember seizing a rm125 in mid air on that track. Hopefully a mx lover will fix it up the way it was in its prime.

according to another forum, it sounds like Rio Bravo has been purchased over by a new owner, and it will be in good hands. I hope this is true.

When did all of this take place?

Tuesday I think was the rumored scheduled public auction. There are tidbits of info on houstonmotocross.com but not anything really detailed.

So, it's not open to the public, currently?

hopefully they allow quads

Al let me ride mine out there. I hope that they continue that though. I am sure that I won't get to ride for free any more though. Al said that he would never charge me.

Al told me he only allowed a few exceptions with the quads. I definitely will miss Al and the dogs, and Al waving the fees. I usually had to almost force him to take the money.

Once he found out I worke dfor the fire dept., he wouldn't take my money either... we're almost argue, and then he said... keep the money, and ride... or keep the money, and go home! :)
