alright alright, to all my personal friends who see this... i know ur happy to finally see me taking interest to gear...so quit screwing with me
first off, i always wear jeans...riding or not...
i do have a good helmet....but thats the only form of gear i wear...
im looking for a good female jacket...wheres the best place to get these?
my bike is alll black, and my helmet is black and hot pink... so if ur selling one, dont try to give me a blue, green, purple etc one...

I got all my gear at Honda of Houston (West Rd and 290) but they are right around the corner from me. They do have a fair good amount of female gear though.

MU (motorcycles unlimited) gives discounts to MH people
And if I remember correctly they had a pink and black jacket in there I THINK... either way go up there and they can point you in the right direction and right size.

My first suggestion would be to call Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited.
They have a line on most anything to do with bikes. I bought a racing leather suit there and they gave me a price that was as good or better than what I found on the internet AND I got to try it on before buying.
Ask Carbon R 1/2, I think she has bought gear from them.

Gloves - teknic or alpinestars

See if there's something you like.
Then go to or call Patrick or his wife and ask if they can get it for you.

if you ever plan on doing track days I would go with the teknic 2 piece leathers... I went down in them and they held up great and you can seperate them and wear just the jacket on the street if you chose to.

My street textile jacket is Alpine Stars.
Gloves, I prefer the Joe Rocket GPX, super-soft and worked great in my wreck. The Joe Rocket leather jacket also held up well.

My sis and I both wear MotoGP jackets. They don't make xs, though, so mine's a little big-
Try on ALL the jackets you come across, so you'll have an idea what you like/ what size to get. I bought mine online and on sale-
+1 about the gloves- get good protection.
My ER Dr. Daddy says he doesn't see many leg injuries on bikers, so your jeans are fine, but it never hurts to wear leather pants or extra pads. Also, wear motorcycle boots, or buy ankle/shin guards to wear under your jeans-
Because you're spending so much on this, don't buy something because it's cheap or on sale- you'll regret it later- get what you want the first time.
Good Luck on your shopping! Personally I don't think they have any great gear for women just yet. Meaner and I have discussed our own line - feminine AND functional!

Ok Jlo, let's clarify something for the readers....
When you turn your head to check the side lane and your helmet moves to the side from wind pressure and covers your eye.... its too loose....
That said; I guess my spare jackets are not becoming of you(or maybe it's the permanent stench I've embedded in them.)
I'm a fan of JR, if you come tomorrow to the M&G w us you'll see SiS's Jacket; its all white, girly fit, blah blah...
As I tell you every ride- Can't always control when you're going down, but you can control what the parametics will be pulling off of you.
Happy shopping....

Make sure you try on everything, then see if you can find a good deal online. If you can't wait, shop around and haggle with the store owners.mgt. I went to Powersports of Houston and got a good deal on a jacket. It doesn't hurt to ask! Leather is the best protection in the unfortunate event of an accident. You shouldn't skimp on protection. Just think of it as what is your body/skin worth to you????? Think about that

Can't spend too much on protection. Every where those gloves are torn up would have been skin to the bone. Love your bod, protect it.
I have Bohn Armor pants that go under jeans. They are a little expensive but skin costs more. I had to dress up for court today and I did not put them on and I really felt self conscious without them. And I wore dress shoes to top that off. Then to top it off the judge did not even look at me, he was writing something when my attorney was talking to him. Next time I'm going geared up man, I don't care anymore. That one time may of been all it took.

Why do I hear so much neg about icon?
We see a lot of gear everyday, both new and after it's been worn / crashed in.
In my experience, Icon doesn't hold up well, and there's a lot of better performing brands out there for same / less cost.

Surprised that newenough.com has not come up yet.
I've gotten several of my pieces from them. You will have to know what size you wear in several different manufactuers but you can usually pick up a deal.
+1 :thumb: on the gloves, and I know you may like riding with jeans but from what I hear, jeans will not protect your skin in a slide :eek3:.
I took a slide in the Hill Country this summer. I was geared up with a new pair of Olympia gloves (my slide rubbed a hole in the palm), Joe Rocket Cleo overpants (did not even look like they had been in a accident-but Lordy was I brusied) with jeans under them and Cortec jacket (trashed) and FF helmet (trashed), I got right up (well after I caught my breath-got the wind knocked out of me) and proceded to direct traffic around my bike (she was stuck under a guard rail). Try doing that with no hide.....
Just my 2 cents BTW I was only going about 20-25 mph when I did not clear the corner, dug the peg and lifted the front wheel...if you don't think it can happen to you just wait....

Best thing to do is try on several jackets and gloves to find something that is comfortable, because if it is uncomfortable you will be less likely to wear it.

Make sure the jacket allows for a backprotector. Most only come with foam pads. You will want to put a backprotector in it eventually.
Also, make sure the jacket has ce-rated armor. I prefer textile with parts mesh over all-mesh.
