Did my first track day in '99 at The Motorsport Ranch. Advanced Motorsports and Mototek used to do them maybe three times a year... that's it. The sooner you get on the track, the better. You really don't know what you're missing. We have had some teens come out who just started driving, but can ride a bike proficiently. It's a great time and chances are you wont regret it.

I make a pretty good living and Katy makes more than the national average family income... I don't see how people throw sooo much money into this whole track/racing thing. Let's say you drop $4k this year into bike prep, repairs, replacements, fuel, trackdays, race fees and whatnot. And that's not a high estimate. Do you guys have any idea how much that $$ is worth in 20 years? You'd be amazed at what compound interest does! :eek3: I drop around $1500-$2000 a year in bike stuff and maybe I'm just cheap but that seems like a buttload to me. I know several folks who have in upwards of $10k on credit cards and know of 1 who has upwards of $20k in credit cards all trying to do this track/racing thing.
Once you guys get married you'll cut your budget down some... I would do more but it's not just my money. It's my and my wifes money. I mean we pay cash for everything but our first new car and our house. So when I go spend $150 on a trackday, $250 on new tires and then have to change the oil and brake fluid I'm looking at around $500 for a trackday. It just seems selfish to me to spend so much of our money on myself.
Ok... I ranted and now I feel better.
Does anyone else have this delimna?

I'm sponsored by UofH  . and I get deals on some bike parts at times so I guess u could say that's somewhat of a sponsor. Oh and work sponsors me as well :tongue5: . Not for long though cuz my term there is almost up b4 I go back to school for my last yr of engineering.

spend money on yourself once a month. only costs me about $200 a track day after i got all my stuff together.
my fist track day was with arturo3rd on may 30th...
I've only been riding since Jan. of this year, stopped for two months (accident), and started riding again...all together about 6 months of riding time

Did you earn the money? Then why not spend a little on your self. :icon_thumright:
The issue is you are worried about the future, which is good but, if you are not having fun now while yo are young.... are you really going to care how great your life is when you can't do crap because you are old. Seriously though.... it is about balance. I could invest alot more then I do but, (and I do invest) sanity comes with a price as well. And, that is about $150 for a track day. The final issue is you probably are just getting into this phase in your life and well, you will hopefully be earning a little more in a few years and be able to play a little more. :icon_thumright:
If today was the last day of your life... what would you do?
:laughing6: capa are you seriously sponsered by uofh??? :confused1:?*

honestly don't know, I'm not concerned abou that right now...I'm trying to work on my body positioning; however, I can tell you I'm not the slowest out there. Mostly instructors are the one's that pass me and a couple of riders, I'm just trying to get comfortable out there. I'm not worrying about times because if I go and push without basics, I'll be in a whole lot of mess.

Mine was on Aug. 9 at TWS with LSTD. It's really funny to look back at some pictures. To me, it's one of those things that you get a lot better at without trying all that hard to. Anyways, now I'm sponsored by Worth Hydrochem of Houston, and I only run a 2:03
however, I can tell you I'm not the slowest out there...

About 1997/1998 started racing YSR's. Did some Califorina Superbike School, Jason Pridmore's STAR before the idea of trackdays came around.
