Ive used Michelin Power Race (Endurance), Pirelli Supercorsas (Trackdays), and currently use Bridgestone BT-002s. ive used Dunlops for street 208s for street.

i run the stones. i run the BT 090's on the superstock bike and i run the slicks on the superbike. great tire, good wear and very very good pricing.

umm the tires we used for the endurance were the new gp pilot race tires, not pilot powers, and then i use supercorsas for sprint

Everybody who runs at TWS will eventually need track tires..... Otherwise you will not be on the track at the exit of T2. :dontknow:
(My personal opinion based on an experience had at TWS in T2 with Dunlop D208 street tires.)

dude you can get some race takeoffs for cheap! Thats what I did till I got better and the takeoffs only started lasting one trackday :eek3: . Seriously tho u can get some race takeoffs and be good with them for probably two or more trackdays and you'll feel more confident and will definitely increase that learning curve. Look into it :icon_thumright:

buy another rear rim or set of wheels and have race tires on those. now thats a good idea. you see how long my tires have lasted and what i have done with them :icon_thumright:

But yeah I mean gettin another set of wheels would be great so u can have street as well as track tires. *Honestly I dont recommend runnin street tires on the track but that's just me. *You just dont have the confidence that you have knowing you have a "track" tire.

Damn motard sent me flying with the bike on top of me. Knocked my wind out and broke a rear set. That one incident caused us to drop back out of a podium finish. 4 laps down from first place and 1 lap off from 3rd. It was some tight racing. :icon_thumright:

There was some aggresive racing going on out there this weekend. I attribute that to my half gainer into the tarmac.

do u really need track tires? i have m1 on rear and stock dunlop on front 2005 r1 :eh:. it will be my first time on track but should i go ahead and replace the front to match? I plan on taking it easy; i have yet to experiance any negative grip w/ the rear and front mismatch but would appreciate any comments....

you dont need to have matching tires or race tires to ride at the track. all you need is some tires with good tread left, then get patrick to tune the suspension.
i rode my first track day with a untouched supension an ran 2:15. then he tuned it the next track day there at the track and had to get use to the bike all over again cuz the bike felt COMPLETELY diffrent. i got use to it after lunch then i wrecked* :icon_thumright:

If you're gonna take it easy the first time out which most probably will happend since you have never been out there and haven't seen the track, then it is acceptable to go as is. Once you feel confident and start pushing a bit more I would highly recommend getting at least matching tires and if you can get some old take offs from someone to start it would be even better. hope this helps :icon_thumright:

i like the bt014's but even with the POS Continental Contitec tires which by the way are hard as hell, they did pretty well, i was impressed with the way they performed for me. i wish i had a better set of tires on the bike, i coulda run alot faster than i did... tires are well worth it, i think my next set will be the 002's
