he knew damn well what he was doing... maybe a little excessive force, but he WAS resisting arrest and only had one handcuff on at the time. the police were just trying to keep it tame and paecefull and that guy's actions and moreso, tone of voice to instill drama, was unnessecary

i think the guy and the cops could've acted a little more maturely. the cops are never one to diffuse a situation though. they put their foot down, and what they say goes. and if they have to get a potential riot brewing to prove their point, so be it, because that just means more of their buddies get to come and shoot rubber bullets at the hippies. they should've carried him out of the auditorium if they wanted to have their fun with him, there was enough of them to do so. but the guy was a bit dramatic, and he should not have resisted, but the cops had no reason to arrest him that i saw, and i'd probably resist too if i were him. it's only a misdameanor, right?

Ah yes, you've seen the John Kerry video? The one where that annoying punk gets Tasered while trying to ask that piece of wood some crappy questions.
Why do I love it? Am I sick? Of course, but the guy deserved it — especially when he said, "Don't Taser me, bro."
I hate the word "bro."
"Hey bro, got a smoke?"
"Hey bro, can you spare a buck?"
"Hey bro, you're choking me."
Shut up. You are not my "bro" or "broheim" and if you insist on using that word you deserve death, bro!
always refreshing to get some of that right-wing perspective.

So the forum, was just for this individual to ask questions etc only and not anyone else that was there. Or does someone wish to claim that he has/had esp and was able to 'know' the questions that anyone else there might have had?
'HIS' questions and concerns were more important than anyone elses?

Encouraging an action then arresting someone for that action is known as entrapment. It is illegal and unconstitutional.

What is the point of reading the article that some biased reporter wrote when you have the video right in front of you? I might not have good eye sight but I saw plenty of security officers and police officers holding him down and tasering him. I also saw on tv in the break room of the female officer holding a taser to his chest while he was on the ground being held. Who if their right ****in mind is not going to scream or get pissed for being tasered. Especially for asking a question. ""He apparently asked several questions -- he went on for quite awhile -- then he was asked to stop," university spokesman Steve Orlando said. "He had used his allotted time. His microphone was cut off, then he became upset.""
"As two officers take Meyer by the arms, Kerry, D-Massachusetts, can be heard saying, "That's alright, let me answer his question.""
(so much for some of the conspiracy nuts)
""I believe I could have handled the situation without interruption," Kerry said in a statement issued Tuesday, "but again I do not know what warnings or other exchanges transpired between the young man and the police prior to his barging to the front of the line and their intervention.""

Hmm... I don't agree.. If the articles listed fact for fact what happened and didn't add their own personal narrative then maybe. I'll just watch the video that shows me what happened... Then I can come up to my own conclusion and not follow someone elses.
I find all available information, assess then make my own judgement.

Guys, unfortunantly this is where our country is headed. Question the government and you're liable to be electrocuted by a nice little tool supplied to your local police force (which reminds me of a cattle prod).
These Q&A sessions are nothing more than an opportunity for politicans to shove more BS down our throats. Usually the questions are screened but I guess this one slipped throuh the cracks. Politicians like Kerry have no balls. If he did then he'd take on any question or topic that an average Joe could throw at him. Unfortunantly that's not the way it works.
"Freedom" went out the window in this country about 15 years ago and it's only going to get worse.

If he was really interested in the answers, he should know the format of the Q&A forum, and brought friends to continue asking the rest of the questions, so he got all the questions out, and followed the layout of the forum. Not go around and impose his own wants in front of others.

So if he was to draw facts that praised Kerry's work/decisions that lead to a question that would then again give him the opportunity to answer with pride, would they tell him to shut up? Would any of this happened? I don't think so.. They are all a bunch of pussies. Plain and simple. I would have understood him being tasered when he threw a fit in the back and was throwing his arms in the air and pushing the officers off of him. That did not happened. They did give him plenty of chances and had different opportunities to taser him and didn't do it. They did it when he was pinned down. So in that sense, it's like spanking your child when they are finally cooperating. The chain of events was all wrong.

Maybe I need to watch it again, but from I noticed the 10 times I watched it she was yelling at him, and he couldn't do anything because he was infact pinned down and because she seemed to get fed up with him she then tasered him. Those are not the rules of using that kind of force of someone...
Here is how it is in Houston, and most likely everywhere else:
Policy and training dictate that officers should use the minimal force necessary to eliminate a threat to officers or others. They also outline instances in which Tasers should not be used, including occasions in which someone is "verbally aggressive" but does nothing else.
The last limitation was clarified after police officials found that a number of officers used Tasers on people who had been verbally aggressive. On March 30, Hurtt distributed to officers a video on which he explained that Tasers should be used against people who are verbally aggressive only if their comments are accompanied by aggressive gestures or the officers think assault is imminent.

i think if he would have used a different tone of voice to ask the questions that they would have been heard. he was asking in a loud, obnoxious manner and was called on it. if he would have said, "no, please let me ask just one more question" in the manner you would expect your kid to talk to you, then he would have been given that opportunity. instead he went in with a big attitude and was asked to leave... he refused and made a scene...ZZZZAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!11

Yea it might have been but the taser has almost the same rules as a gun. You should not use it unless your life in is danger. Only difference with the taser is if they send you threats it is more than likely to be used. He did have one hand pinned behind his back while multiple officers were laying on him with all their weight. It doesn't look like he is the Incredible hulk and can free himself out of it and he didn't try to. Most he said was, "get off of me", and "dont' taser me". Those do not sound like threatening words in my book.
Like I said, if they did it while he was running around acting a fool then it would have been justified.

Man that shyt was unwarranted! There is no way you will justify either the initial restraining or continued escalation to the point of arresting this young man given the observed circumstance(s). Sure the guy was more than likely looking for a little fame/camera time, but that has never been enough, to justifiably arrest someone (they need to have actually been conspiring or conducting some transgression against the laws of the state- can you honestly say he was breaking any law? Doubtful. And inciting a riot doesn't much fit). This was pseudo-Gestapo as was mentioned by Moody yesterday. His question(s), though poorly formulated were well within the confines of time and being that this was a forum who's very nature is based on the exchange of questions and answers between the subject of the forum- John Kerry- and the attendees, there was no reason to silence the young man in his efforts. Although he was excitable and was asking multiple questions (something I personally hate, if you wish me to grant proper and equitable responses, allow me to answer your questions one by one) which happened to be more rhetorical in nature, at least by my observation, that does not mean that you can simply silence any undesirable queries, particularly when it has to do with our government. Some of you seem to need to be reminded that we are not fascists', the government does not and SHOULD NOT have the authority to silence entities questioning its doings and should never simply accept this type of behavior from our government officials, namely police. NO , this was not some official government ceremony such as an induction ceremony, it was a public forum whose focus was on government issues headed by a US Senator so yes, all the aforementioned still applies.
Here are a few relative excerpts from the United States Constitution:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

You can't have 'Freedom of Speech' if there are rules about what you can and cannot ask. I watched the video and I was suprised when the officer appeared out of nowhere to remove him from the mike. I was thinking "what's the problem?". All it takes is for one of Kerry's advisors to give the 'signal' and they can remove anyone they like for asking the wrong question in the 'wrong' way.

The dude wasn't committing treason, slander, etc. He was stating facts/setting up his question - which he never got around to. If Kerry wasn't such a puss he could've easily said 'no, let him ask his question'. He didn't do that because he wanted the guy removed.

The dude wasn't committing treason, slander, etc. He was stating facts/setting up his question - which he never got around to. If Kerry wasn't such a puss he could've easily said 'no, let him ask his question'. He didn't do that because he wanted the guy removed.
.
He did tell them that he would answer his questions. Get all your facts straight.
P.S. I still think Kerry is a puss, but not for this. He did tell them to stop and let him answer the @sshats questions.

He didn't mean it. Otherwise he would've ordered the police to stop what they were doing and let the guy finish. Kerry knew what he was doing, he's not stupid.

see, it was not convienient for you to use that testimony of what happen... had it been for your cause then you'd be all over it
No, it's just that even in the court of law, such is deemed to be more valid a method of evidence...video evidence that is...(I'm part lawyer for the record)

The 'shooting' example is a bad one, I think. In that case you'd be violating someone else's rights. This guy was speaking his mind about a political issue which does not deny anyone else thier rights.read sillywabbit's post with the link to the witness, what did she say kerry did?

+1...why the hell bring up either treason, slander, etc when it has no bearing on anything with regard to what we are discussing. Not directly anyway...
p.s.
Kerry still answered the question as the guy was being removed so I don't think it is Kerry who had him removed but rather some person or group of persons associated with the school.

bah, I'm bailing this thread, people aren't open to looking at all sides of the story.
In sumation: Tasering the dude was eccessive, and does need to be dealt with. Removing the @sshat was the right thing to do.

lol, wow...g'bye then, can't take the heat...get ya a$$ out the kitchen. Not sure where folks aren't open to all sides...I think there is more an issue with not dealing in verifiable facts and providing sufficient, logical, relevant arguments than there is with folks not seeing all sides...

you won't accept the fact that he was at a forum, the forum has rules, rules were boken, he got punished... it may have been a little harsh but i bet he won't do it again and it tought other people a lesson as well

I can see your point. However, if the Gov. is allowed to supress Free Speech in certain forums then it's only a matter of time until the forum is 'anywhere' and 'everywhere'. What good is Free Speech then? We get to sit at home and say what we like? What good is that??

LMAO, to address the above, summarily:
1) I both suggested and agreed that it was a forum (remember that I wasn't the one who distinguished it as a ceremony)
2) We don't know that the rules were broken because, we uh, don't know the rules
What we do know:
1) He spoke for precisely 1 minute 31 seconds
2) He was removed by 5+ officers
3) He was tased
4) This was a forum
5) The purpose of a forum is dialogue
6) He was at least initially allowed the opportunity to speak

i don't think it has to do with free speech... he could have asked his question if he would have waited his turn and asked in a polite manner. he didn't so he was denied his chance to ask questions.

Aight, well lets keep those comment relative to the Jena case in the Jena thread. It gets a lil confusing for one and two, it's completely irrelevant to the topic at hand...
