View Full Version : Tired of popups

I have popup blocker software installed, and there is a new wave of "pop-unders" and "pop-ups" as well. They open themselves, and then minimize themselves and hide until you are done with IE..... even if you have pop-up stopper software. Then there are the annoying flashing banners that sing, make noise, and get in the way when you're surfing a site. So, I made a fix.
If you use a gateway router to connect multiple computers to your broadband, or if you know how to add sites to your IE restricted sites list. Then add the following sites, and you should get a large reduction in these.
abetterinternet.com
adrevolver.com
adservingnetwork.com
advertising.com
atdmt.com
casalemedia.com
doubleclick.net <----- This is a big one. Probably 70% of Mainstream advertising (MSN, Yahoo, etc...)
fastclick.net
googkle.com <------- this is a common mispelling of google, that takes you to a site that tries to infect your computer. Good to have as well.
ntsearch.com
toolbarpartner.com
zedo.com

Yea, I used it for awhile.... using Advanced Browser now.... this is still a solution for banner advertisements, not just popups.

I use a 4 hit combo for pop-ups, spy ware etc, and all are free
Spybot Search & Destroy
Spyware Blaster
Adaware
Avast Anti-virus
Have been running most of these proggys for a few years if not more.* No problems.*
You can find em all at www.majorgeeks.com

Ok, people are missing half the point of my post.
When you go to a website, whether it be MSN, Yahoo, Geocities, or anythingelse. Even if you don't have popups, you have annoying banners that flash, make noise, expand and block your view, etc. Well, if you ban the source of those advertising banners (usually not the server that the site you are browsing is hosted on) then you don't have all that crap in your way. I've also successfully stopped the advertisements at the top of MSN messenger, and AIM.
