'07 ZZR-600 ... catalytic required?

These have a cat built into the exhaust, and I think the Cali models have one in the can too (could be wrong there). I'd like to replace everything with a full aftermarket system but keep it street legal if I can. I thought about doing this since the '78 Camaro I used to have ran a lot better with headers and dual pipes w/o a cat and I was wondering if it would do something similar for the bike. Is it even worth doing, cosidering the price? Suggestions on systems?

At this point Texas is not emission testing bikes. You can remove it and replace it with a full system.
I know you already have a slip on, so you're not likely to gain much and it will move what you do gain towards the top end of the powerband.
