does anybody happen to know if yz80 is a good dirt bike to have? because i found this really good deal on it and was wondering if i should jump on it or not.

i know people say yamaha's aren't as good as honda's but don't know if that is due to bias recommendations or if it is the truth. someone with experience with dirt bikes please advise.

thanks in advance.

okay, so overall it is very comparable to honda then, right?

and i heard that it needs the mix-in for the fuel since it is a 2-stroke. is that mix-in cheap or expensive?

sorry for the questions, i am very new to the dirt bike world.

you have to mix it 50:1 it 2cycle runs about 3 dollars a jug that will mix about 5 gal of gas.

where do you buy this stuff from?

is it the same stuff you put with the fuel in a weedwacker or other lawn machinery?

eh, i'd mix it more like 32:1 and you can get 2 stroke premix all over the place.

i pay about $7 per 0.5 liters to 4.22 gallons of gas.

the yz80 would be smoking depending on your weight and riding style and all.
what is your intended riding purpose for the bike?

I love my 89 YZ80. Just wish I could find a replacement silencer for it that doesn't cost $80+. Get the later model if you get one just b/c parts are SOOOOO much easier and cheaper to find.

my intended purpose for the bike it just to screw around in. i am not planning to race it or anything. maybe just take it on the greenbelt behind my house and just ride up and down it. i guess you can call it a toy.

i had a cr80 couple yrs back.. 32:1 is what i mixed.. just put fresh fluids in it, check the spark plug, and adjust your brakes if they are lacking and it will run like a bad out of hell(unless you blow the top end ha) and they can take a hell of a beating. i probally weighed 120-130 when i had my 80 and it would soak up 10ft jumps landing on flat ground(riding off cliffs and crap)

i still want to do a cr 80 conversion with a 150 4stroke motor in it!

& they're full of shit, any of the big 4's bikes will be a blast for years if well taken care of. One brand may be better than others on certain years/ models but they are generally all competitive. The brands may run differant mix ratios so make sure you get that right... Call the dealer if you have to (it's kinda important:nod:)
