ok, Ive seen the thousands of offers for gmail accounts. I have never researched it so Im gonna ask a few questions.

1. why is it that some people have these to give out and others do not? as in, why cant anybody just go to google and set up an account of their own without asking for "invites"?

2. what makes this email account so desirable?

1) There was a limited trial, and then they bring in new people slowly by using the invite system. Also means, you're going to have less spammers using the system if it's a little harder to get.

2) You get over 2GB of storage, you never have to delete e-mails, you can go back and all prior contact with one person, you can search your emails, etc....
