How bad of an idea is this? If you just cruise around and commute why would it be so bad?
and how hard can you go around curves before the tires dont stick with ya?

I think as far as the central/midle section of the tire is still in good condition I think is OK..If you are commuting you most likely are not pushing the limits of the tire.
By the way Chris, where you work..??

If they're not heat cycled to Hell and back they're not bad. Don't get caught in the rain with them though. I rode with them for years with no problems.

wouldn't recommend them for the street.
rain traction suck
life is short, you do better to get a good sport touring tire and running them getting 3-4 x the life of the tire. and skip out on all the shop labor charges

I used to run race tires on the street before my bike went to track only. No problems here. Just like everyone else said, wet traction is horrible. Also, don't take off from your place and expect to have perfect traction, race tires only get their optimal traction when they are hot.

I always ride with a race take offs on the front but its very rare that tire ever hits the ground anyway... :keke: until i put my 929 front end on for the stoppies that is. Ive only had one problem with race take off i changed the front tire before and looked at the inside and it was all shredded up kinda scary :dontknow:
