Friend went down in Arkansas and tore his shoulder apart based on the force of hitting the ground. His EXO 400 did it's job fine and he's replacing it with the same one.

What do they mean by "squeeze"?
I have an EXO 700 and I have been very happy with it. In fact you'll see my testimonial on the Scorpion site in their customers section.
However, I have never crash tested one and don't know anyone who has. Anyone here?

Patrick - Motorcycles Unlimited
I tell you what - I don't know what the big difference is between the 400 and 700 BUT I will tell you all the reports I here are that your buying a helmet made to at least a $300 - 400 value for around the 200's. My BIGGEST love is the fact it has so many vents for air flow. They are definately not the lightest helmet on the market but again for price I don't think you can beat them. Mind you should price be an option when it's your head???
Everybody will have an opinion! If it feels comfy and suits your style buy it!!! Only rule of thumb when buying gear for riding is generally you pay for what you get. The better rated/tested materials are more expensive and ofourse vice versa. If you want a "real" opinion call MU and speak with Patrick - he'll never lead you the wrong way!

yeah it "squeezes" but i believe that is only b/c the 400 is not made of fiber materials like the 700. I haven't heard or read any bad reviews (impact/crash wise) for any of the Scorpion helmets. I have the 400 and it's not bad for the price. Never crashed tested it so I couldn't tell you how it holds up first hand.

I tell you what - I don't know what the big difference is between the 400 and 700
EXO400 - polycarbonate
EXO700 - fiberglass
Fiberglass is lighter. There are different reports whether a polycarbonate or fiberglass shell is more effective in protecting from impact such as a steel orange so I went with the cheaper of the two. I have my second EXO400.

I have the scorpion exo 700 crackhead like pictured above, it is a great helmet lots of air flow inside and out, much less head shake at high speeds. I got mine when I got my bike and they cut me a deal $219.00 out the door.

Ive had my EXO 700 for a few months. After owning an RF-1000, I would say the quality of the helmet is definitely on the same level. It fits my head better, gets more airflow than my old RF. Also, I like the way it smells...maybe it's some hypo-allergenic material, but it smells sort of sweet. The face shield is anti-fog, and they are easy to change.
I haven't crash tested it, but plenty of people have.
You can't beat the bang for the buck. You can find them discounted to $150 (EXO 700). I would love to have an EXO 1000....I think they come out this summer.

I had a exo-400. Replaced it when I went down last year. I have several exo-700's now. The main difference is, as pointed out, the shell materials. I also think the 700 flows more air, but my memory could be faulty. The 700 feels a bit more quality to me but they are both great helmets, with the 400 being a bit less expensive. Much higher quality than the KBC and Icon helmets I own.
And the crackhead models rule. I have 3 of them. Just don't have the new matte grey :BangHead:

I have both Helms, flat black 400, gloss red 700. I've had an assortment of diff helmets, and I don't think I'm going to switch to another helm any time too soon. I feel it's the best bang for your buck. It's not the best money can buy, it's not cheap, it's just good quality for what your paying for compaired to anything else in the price range.

I like mine. I use it for TMGP. The only problem I have with it is for some reason they start smelling and even after several washes the liner still retains that funky old sweat smell. I am wondering if it has to do with the material they use for the liner. I have never had that kind of issue before.
