I just got my new jacket after my first one got shredded and I was wondering how it's supposed to fit. The first jacket i had was a mesh jacket and my new one is a leather, but it's much tighter and formfitting. Should i get a larger size? I order a size 46 and the length looks a little short. Fits snug on the arms and chest area. I ordered the SMK jacket from Alpine*. Any input would help me out alot! Thanks guys!

It should be form fitting but not tight... make sure you can move your arms freely... why didn't you go to a dealer or any other shop and 'test fit' the jacket you want and before you bought it???

I had my heart set on the SMK but they didn't have it in stock. so i had to order it thru the dealer. My arms move easily. . i just don't know about the length of it. . looks a little short compared to the mesh one i had before. I like the fit just not the length.

leather will break in as well.

For trackleathers, they recommend 'wetsuit' tight so all the pads stay in place when you crash. Do you already have the hard back protector in it? If no, you may want to go up a size because that will make it too tight to breathe.

If you can stretch your arms to a point and it goes to your wrists and you have gloves that go above your wrists to cover that area, I think you should be okay.
In regards to the waist area, you don't want your belly or back to hit skin on concrete so it should cover to a point. My A* jacket pulls up a bit since I put the back protector in it (which I highly recommend) but once I get around to putting the comparable zipper on my pants, it will be okay.

The backprotector is in and it's snug. . but I can breathe fine. The sleeves go all the way up to my wrist when i stretch out my arms. . I just dunno about the length. . kinda short on the front. I hope it breaks in nicely. . it's a really nice jacket. I got it as a birthday present. :)

about the length...is it so short that the zipper won't reach the zipper of the leather pants?

The leather jacket I use feels short in the front as well. I suppose reason for that is so it doesn't buldge up on you when you are in a tucked position.

Is this an external back protector or you are talking about the foam inside the jacket? Cause i also have an A* that has foam inside, but i had to take it off for my back protector to fit. I run full leathers at the track though.

If you can move freely, the leather will give in a bit

A* has a backprotector that you can buy as an aftermarket option that is hard and ce-rated, it replaces the foam thingie you have now.

There is a zipper that goes around the waist of the jacket. It doesn't connect to anything so i guess this goes around the pants? I bought the aftermarket back protector and took out the foam one to make room for it.

Yes, the zip fits prolly all a* pants.

Snug is good with leather it breaks in as some have mentioned.

There is no substitute for leather - watch any race - everyone wears it for a reason.

Congrats on a great jacket

Thanks for the help guys! I've decided to keep the jacket. . if it breaks in and loosens up then it'll be perfect. If not then next time i'll get a 48 instead of the 46. Alpine* rocks my face off!!!
