Isle of Iraan

So the same people that put on the SportBike Extravaganza Rally Last month in Iraan are going to do a Mini Roadrace in October in the City Park! They are calling it the Isle or Iraan! I post up some banners and picks shortly. It's basically going to be run on the City streets of the Park! Who's Interested?

BTW, when you say mini roadrace, do you mean a "mini" track or on "mini" bikes?

OK I gotta run guys I can post more laters but heres the short story. The town of Iraan is literally blowing away and becoming a ghost town. The guy and his wife came up with the SportBike Rally and no one really cared until about the 3rd year when they realized that it was bringing ALOT of $$$$$ to town. Now the whole town bends over backwards for the rally and participants. The idea is along the same lines an event to benefit a local charity and to bring $$$$ into the local economy. The race will be based on the TMGP style classes and grids rules etc etc. TMGP is NOT involved(liability disclaimer for them) at this point. The city park has paved roads running through it that are about 1 and 1/2 lane wide and the race will be run on these streets. Yes there are some trees yes there are curbs yes run off is limited in some areas,,,,,, but then the Isle of MANN is run on public roads"the most dangerous race in the world" so maybe this is the "Most dangerous MINI race in the world!hahahahahahahah I'll try to post some aerials of the city park tonight it's quite a bit larger in length than Katy.

Sorry guys(and girls!) Ok here's the deal What you see below is a aerial photo of the park. All the roads are paved and the pavement is nice and clean. There are several layouts being considered based on lowest achievable top speed and run off outside of turns. The run off is very good almost everywhere,,,,,, Except the South East corner,,,,,,,after you clear the curbs! The general idea is tires and haybales in impact areas outside of fast turns.

So this should give you a general idea of what the layout is going to look like. Again the idea is a Charity Fund Raiser type of race with a proceeds going to some local charity. Race classes will follow TMGP Sprint classes for the most part although there will most likely be nothing OVER125cc 4 stroke. Same gear requirements. Possibly a Racing License requirement for MOST classes (although maybe a noob/provnov class) And after the wildly popular Lemans Start 1 hour Endurance thats a distinct possibility also.
Heres the thing,,,, this is the FIRST TIME. So its going to be one big crazy fun experiment and as such its open to pretty much any and all suggestions/ideas. The Main idea is to have some fun and raise some charity bucks. If we base entry fee's near those of TMGP ($35 1st race, $15 2nd race and $5 each after, $30 for 1 hr endurance) or slightly less the event still stand to raise a generous amount and racers get a day of fun and adventure. I'm thinking Maybe that doing some " Isle of Iraan" T shirts would also work out well. So nows the time to jump in with your thoughts and ideas

Well we are racing TMGP so it's NOT going to conflict there I guess I better take a look at CMRA's schedule and the trackday schools. Thanks for a great suggestion! We are going to have to go out one weekend and run the thing with a few bikes and see what seems to work out best, sort of a track setup test day. The big down side to #2 is no run off at the end of the last straight(bus stop) so one or 2 bus stops may be needed to keep speeds down going into the final turn on that configuration.
