overall a good trackday, great experience for everyone...

rain through the morning a tad, dried almost completely in the afternoon

4 of our riders went down, including: myself, javier, dustin and andy

for the level1 riders that i got to ride with a tad, lookin pretty good, got a lot of form to work on

gianni, andy, and the rest of level 4, great riding did well hope to see you out there soon

as for me, bike is ok, tweaked subframe and front stay, all able to bend back

the t-shirts will be made asap, and i'll have them sent to me and i'll give them to you guys

it was good.... *well we got there sunday night. and it was a little cloudy but not too bad... *then we unloaded out things and I went to the restroom and I was in there no more than 5 mins... I come out and all hell broke loose and its raining like a madman. I swear it wasnt even raining downward, the rain was coming horizontally! * :eek3: * It was like that for about 30 mins and things were blowin everywhere.. *Then the rain was still there but a LOT lighter. *

This morning we get up and its cloudy and still damp from yesterday and the sessions start and after one session it came back down hard again... * it wasnt until about 11am that the sun actually started peeking a little little bit. *we took lunch and the next session seemed like they had just turn on a heater... it went from windy and rainy, to no wind, and HOT!! *I was cookin in my suit. *The track dried up and it was nice and sticky for the rest of the day. I thought it was ok overall, too bad it wasnt nice all day but hey what can u do, it happens.

As for wrecks we had some of the forum guys go down, not to mention any names... Sydney, Andy and Javier. :keke:. But hey its all part of the sport. As for me considering I didnt really ride when it was raining and hadnt even gotten on my ike in a little over a month I did quite well. I was told by Ty Howard that my form and riding style was perfect and if I worked a little more on my braking I could easily cut down my lap times by about 3 or 4 secs. I was quite pleased. ;)

Other than the weather, sounds like a pretty good outcome.

i was impressed with the FREE instruction that was given to all level of riders, though i didnt want to be in a classroom while not riding, i did learn a few things that helped me out in the turns. overall i think ridesmart did a good job, but next time i'll be in level 4, gettin passed like crazy.

well, james i would highly recommend you stay out if 4. you'll piss off alot of riders w/ your speeds vs theirs and endanger youself as well as others.

was not happy about the "drills" other then the videotaping.

had a good day. nobody w/ the group i was hanging w/ went down...... :icon_thumright:

the mandatory class time in level2 was messin with my mojo... (i usually like to ride - come in and pit - and think about my lines and what i want to do in the next session) *the class was pretty rudimentry and was taking time away from that... soooo i flashed'em my cmra lic and got the nod to level 4...

riding in four is pretty much not a track day pace... but rather a race pace... so i had to check around me in the corners alot - but it was still better than going through cones on the front/back straights like some kind of level2 msf exercise... wtf was that anyway???... *:dontknow:

the track was slippy as hell before lunch... and i nearly got added to the list of those who went down... i got shoved to the outside when somebody passed me on the inside of t6... i was leaned over and had to adjust my line b/c they were coming though right at the apex... of course as my luck would have it that put me on a direct course for the puddles in the middle of the track... i hit them and the front broke like a bucking bronco... almost high-sided but (thank you mr. pirelli) i was able to regain control before going off the track... it was the most wicked wobble skidding experience of my life though... needless to say my times went waaaaaay down in the following laps and even in the next session after that...

but by the afternoon... i was gettin back in my grove... and on the last session i decided to jump in level2 with moody behind me... after being passed all day by gixxer's it was nice to go out a beeyach slap an entire level... even with both of us having to get around all the slower riders i still managed to get in 2:13's... *so i was happy to call it a day...

props to syd for the gettogether... dave wonders is a class act... *:notworthy:

damn good seeing everyone again... and nice meeting a few of you for the first time too... *

we gotta do this again sometime!... *:icon_thumright:

moody mentioned that in level 2 there might be less traffic than what i encountered in level 1. if i ride in level 2 will there be less slow downs or is this going to happen in any level?

what did the white and pink shirts over the leathers mean? i passed alot of them on the outside and wanted to know if they had to stick together.

i know i havent been doing this long but ALL the guys that i was trying to pass or passed made me not want to cuz they couldnt hold their lines and had some messed entry and exit techniques. they needed to spend more time in the class talking about lines and showing level 1 instead of dave asking every 5 minutes, "By the show of hands who would buy a..." :director:

if i ride in level 2 will there be less slow downs or is this going to happen in any level?

That will happen in any level. The first 2 times I did track days, I rode level C (LoneStar). Then, I made the jump to level 2 (Ridesmart). Then I did 2 group Bs (LoneStar). Then I did Level 4 (Ridesmart). I will probably continue to ride Group B w/ Lonestar and Group 4 w/ Ridesmart for a while. Everyday I've been there and in every group I've been in, I've passed tons of guys and I've been passed by tons (but not more than I've passed )

Lap traffic is just a track day inevitability.

Well... my opion is not worth much but here it goes because you seem to have a bit of know how in what you are doing and probably are dealing with a lot of what I am, except you are just a couple track days behind me. So....

I think you hit the nail on the head..... why in the hell do they put a bunch of guys/gals on a race track and not mention the fact that there will be different paced riders in the same group and not explain what holding your line is. Sure if you have an open track in front of you, practice the best line but when you get shown a wheel *coming up in a corner that probably means somebody is there and may want to come around you. So, unless you want to swap paint it is probably best to hold your damn line. (There was a little venting there.... but after lapping a guy on a GSXR1000 3 times and having to set him up time each in the same spot becase he had to much throttle happiness in the straights [except the embankment because I passed him there once too] *is a bit fustrating... obviously he was working on how fast he could go once the bike was standing up and how early he could brake for a corner) Anyways, I personally will not do a level 2 with Ridesmart again but will be trying out the B group with Lonestar. I here the B guys with Lonestar hold a little better pace then the RideSmart level 2 group. So, in conculsion I am wondering why they do not mention holding lines and why they do not have a better established system for placing students with levels.

Oh and... I have never heard mention of the best advice I ever received from another class I took... Which was if you feel like you are going to fast for the corner.... LEAN HARDER! (This would have probably helped Javier more then any other advice.)

Okidoki I am done for now. Over and Out *:icon_thumright:

In the morning I went out once, while it was raining and I barely leaned and caught myself slipping..* *So I just did some bitch laps and practiced my throttle control.* Then after that I was not too too comfortable with the track still being damp.* It wasnt until the last two sessions that I really started pickin up the pace and I was able to run 1:57-1:58.* The rest of the day I was not pushin like I normally do,* I was just tryin to get back in the groove of things since I hadnt even mounted on my bike since the last track day back in april.* *;)

and YES... some mother$*@& took my sleeping bag sunday night... it completely dissapeared... dont let me catch anyone with it or there will be some ass kickin goin down.

Hey Gianni, found out a big factor in low siding. last night I went out and checked my tire pressure on my bike since they were at normal temps. Front was 36psi and the rear 32psi. I think the guage we used at the track is f'ed up pretty bad. So guys keep an eye out for that, tire pressures are really important out on the track. Typically the front should be 31 and the rear 29 but can vary per rider....

Yeah, it was one that Brad had been using for a while. I called him and told him to find a different one and check his today to see if his are that way. No word yet. I used an Auto zone special yesterday(kind with the stick poking out the bottom) Never had a problem with it before.

I check my tires before every session and also went over to the Bibmen trailor to see if my gauge was working right. Ended up running 30 in the front and 29 in the rear. Turned out to be a nice combo for the day. Can't say enough about how important tire pressure is.

thanks to andy and that other dude that i remebered about lowering my tire pressure and them reminding what PSI. it sure did feel like i had more of a contact patch on the ground when trying to corner *

I used the Analog one that the Michelin guy had on his pump when we went to air up our tires... It was in another units so I just did the conversion and it worked great. Im guessin u're talkin about the blue little gauge u had let me borrow? I have this cheap one with the little stick at the bottom and Ive always used it and never had problems.

you arrange plastic cups in a triangle on a ping pong table (on both sides) and throw a ping pong ball across the table and try to make it into the cup. if it goes in then the other person your playing against drinks it.

i only said rum because my columbian bro-in-law and his crew likes to dring rum and redbull at this club called chichas alot, lol

LSTD... RIDESMART has less wrecks

Well, I think it really depends on what day you attend. Some days seem to go by flawlessly... and riders just seem to have their head on straight. Other days you wonder what people are thinking. I think both RS and LSTD have seen their fair share of accident prone days. To say that one has more than the other isn't really fair to either organization.

It's a great time to own a sportbike with all the track time available!
