We have an expedition to pull a trailor. We dont have that 8 bike trailer to pull all of the bikes in the group were caravaning in.
Linjy2 says he has a 4runner or truck we can PROBALY use. That means we can get two 4 bike trailers (or a size to accomodate).
Renting that huge ass truck from uhual would be too expensive, IMO.
we might be leaving houston (SW houston area) around 3-4 PM depending on the time it takes to load our stuff up.
linjy2
05-26-2005, 12:32 PM
but we have to reserve the trailor as early as when?
arturo3rd
05-26-2005, 12:34 PM
the HUGE ass truck by friday morning is what the guy at uhaul said. only becasue they get swamped.
anytime we want for the trailer, but the sooner the better. there are alot of uhuals here in houston so we just have to call them up if they ALL are being used in one spot.
linjy2

380lb a bike x4 = 1520lb load.
still pretty heavy but doable.
also, were pulling them so we get momentum and not that much energy is spent after we get going just when we take off with a burnout.
BUT lets continue this convesation itn the Caravn thread :icon_thumright:
true, anyone check the weather, isolated thunderstorm.

a wheel chock will ensure NO tipping of the bike, if the front wheel isnt secure, then it could fall over... a wheel chock is cheaper than new plastics for you and the next bike over that it hits when it falls..
Moody

You can make a wheel chock with spare wood you find at the new home construction sites. :icon_thumright:

uhual prices.
4x9 $9.95 per day = $ 19.90/4 = $ 4.97 aprox.
5x8 $18.95 per day = $ 37.90/4 = $ 9.47 aprox.
6x12 $29.95 per day = $ 59.90/4 = $ 14.97 aprox.
looks like were getting the 6x12 so i have to find two in houston available sunday.

as for the weather.... it's completely unpredictable! That piece of crap is never on. I dotn remember the last time it actually said sunny day. Just about everytime I have gone it says scattered T-storms and maybe it rains a little bit if at all and the rest its a great day! We'll just have to wait and see when the day comes. :icon_thumright:

thats fine with me. We can use a few 4x6 pieces of wood, so the front tire has something to clamp against. patrick at MU showed me how to do it.
Im ready to go, looking forward to this.
Artura just confirming... this means our trailer's booking is confirmed right? Beacuse i need to cancel my reservation if it is.

Stephen, i already had mine reserved for a solo trailer as back up and so did Jack. I picked my jacket up today and rode around in the nice weather. feels great, kinda longer then i wanted, but once i get my sidi's tom it should be fine.

05-27-2005, 01:30 AM
yes one trailor is reserved from me for us four and syd comfirmed the other for his crew.
both are 6x12 but syd told me if we turn ours in before 10am tuesday we'll only get cahrged for two days and not three :icon_thumright:
he got a quote for two days while the guy i reserved mine from told me i had to get charged for three. ill talk to the manager once we go pick it up sunday.
we're getting together at 10am at syd's house. we might have to make stops at all yall's homes to get your stuff together and tied down unless you ride it down to syd's and we pick up the stuff later that day. :eh:

probaly ali will need to jump groups since hes driving his pathfinder.
anybody hear from dustin (atomicjohn)?

Arturo, if pick the trailer up a little later, that will give u a little more time to return it.
but anyway arent we coming home soon after the track day end? *so we can just return it that evening.
Lastly let me know soon if we are going to be using my car to tow the trailer.
Glad this is taken care of! :) track day, here we come!!!

05-27-2005, 01:49 AM
well we want to leave houston around 3pm and with us guys, we are sure to make things more complicated when packing and tying things down. so if we pick up the trailor at 10am sunday we should be at syd's house at 10:30 am.
we wont get back to houston (if we leave right at 5pm from college station) until around 6:30pm and uhaul closes at 7pm. dont forget monday is memorial day and there will be alot of traffic and probaly uhaul will probaly close early. last thing we wanna do is rush when tying down our $9k bikes and hauling ass to save on $30 for the extra day.
i though you said you spoke to jack about using your pathfinder instead of his 4runner? either way, we need another truck/suv to pull the second trailor.
CBR600RR
05-27-2005, 01:53 AM
ok thats fine, we'll use the pathfinder
but we can drop the trailer off at the UHaul even when they are not there.* I've done that with the actual UHaul plenty of times. and the guy at the UHaul near my house said that i have that option for the motorcycle trailer.* Call that location and see if its ok with them to do that.
and are we camping out?
linjy2
05-27-2005, 01:56 AM
ok so we are using your pathfinder? what about camping essentials? we need sleeping bags and what not right?
CBR600RR
05-27-2005, 02:02 AM
Thats fine with me. everyone is splitting gas either way im assuming, so thats cool with me.
I dont know, but i think im just going to sleep in the car cause i dont have shit and am not going to be buying anything new (spent enough money for a track day! :) )
arturo3rd
05-27-2005, 02:13 AM
bring something to sleep in wether it be a sleeping bag or just a balnket and pillow. from what im hearing is that its going to be a long night and adrenaline will keep us going through the whole day.
im not sure about the trailor being dropped off. i think we pay for it once we drop it off. you can call and check tomorrow when you call to cancel your reservation.
we are going to bring a cooler for sunday and probaly send somebody out monday to buy water and gatorade at the local stores. they close the gate at 10pm sunday so we can go get some fast food before 10pm and bring it back for that night.

you seem to have it all figured out, its just that me personally, i wouldnt wait till last minute and prolly wouldnt rely on other people to get my bike there,,, so i would make plans for myself,,,
am i selfish or realistic? :dontknow:

we are only doing this TOGETHER thing because most of us will be going for the first time.
it wasnt towards the last minute but things didnt work out like we planned a month ago with the trailors that were promised. everyone has a ride or could go up there if anything happens to the reserved trailors we have now.
no big deal. are you going to go up there and pit with us, together? lol

Also if you will be camping just bring..
1. basic toiletries
2. some tools. (People bring tools so u can always borrow if u need sumthin)
3. tent and/or sleepin bag
4. bike WITH KEYS!!!
5. gear
6. maybe a change of clothes.
Some people rather sleep in the truck which is fine. Or others sometimes have tents for like 3 or 4 people. personally i hardly sleep before a track day anyway. I keep waking up every hr or so to see if its time to ride!!
