So last week i went to Patricks to try on some suits for trackdays. After talking to him i decided that i wanted to spend a lil extra and get an A* suit that he was gonna practiclly give me. Since i was short on cash i called up my dad and asked him to see if he would let me borrow some money. He said no. I get a picture message from my dad today and its a 2 pc FieldSheer Revo suit. He told me he had bought it 2 days before i called about the money, said it was a pain in the ass looking through my sport rider magazines looking for retailers and suit designs. He wanted to surprise me. Cant wait to go home after finals so i can try this on. I know its a corny story, but after all the bad news this week i thought i'd share this.

p.s. sorry pat, i know i was suppose to buy that suit from you. I jokingly told my dad to contact you incase he wants to surprise me with a damper.:icon_thum

that's very cool of your dad

i'm still trying to decide what kind of dad i want to be when I have kids...one part of me wants to spoil the kid and myself at the same time with fun stuff like dirtbikes and gear, and the other part makes me want to make the kid earn it...eh screw it, i'll spoil myself and not have kids

dont spoil the kids, just be ones that is stern and reward accordingly. you always want to give your kids better than what you have but i think when it goes into the spoiled region it f*cks the kid up later in life. Then you have another VA shooting incident with too many super spoiled kids.

Raising kids is like training animals.... Make them do the trick, then they get the treat... today to many parents give the kids the treat in hopes that will inspire them to do the trick... why should they do the trick, they already got the treat.......... makes sense to me.

ya. my dad is a hard ass, and it's probably why I'll be a hard ass. He always told me "between you and your mom, that's unconditional love; but, between you and me, i don't have to love you, I choose when I want to." or "I'm not your best friend, I'm your dictator."

lol. trust me my dad is a hard ass. But i will say this, he doesnt mind rewarding me for things once in a while. Gotta tell yall, i was sweatn not having the proper stuff to go to tws on the 14th. Now i can use the money i saved for a suit to get some new tires for the track.

my birthday presents were five across the eye for even mentioning it lol j/k. i actually never asked or wanted anything from my parents and moved out early so really didnt get anything but then i never asked. I think i would teach the kid how to get their on their own, i used to hustle in middle school buying candy from sams and kroger and sell them 10 cent cheaper then vending machine lol!

true that. I was 12 years old when my dad bought our store in galveston. Until i went to Duke last summer for research i've done work there every summer & until i started going to UH i worked there everyday and still did my extra ciric. activities. It was awsome when I was in my first semister of college at GC, i was doing the fire academy at the same time. Because i had to put on a few more lbs i changed my workout regimen and my dad helped by cooking salmon and steaks for me everyday. He made sure i had an egg sandwich every morning.
