Nice set of riding gloves?

I am looking to buy a new set of riding gloves. Nothing for the track or racing, just a nice pair of riding gloves. Would you say short or long gloves? Brands? Got any suggestions?

Short or long - long is generally more protective of your wrist but either way they have to fit properly. An improper fit will mean they're uncomfortable, and then you won't want to wear them.

Look for things that protect your knuckles and the meat of your palm in a slide. Stitching is also important - the gloves are worthless if they've ripped open and exposed your skin & bones.

Icon tend to be a bit bulky when you first get them and they take some getting used to depending on which ones you get. Joe Rocket makes some awsome gloves that look realy cool and have great protection with lots of choices. I use mostly ICON cause I like the look and thier for street mostly with lots of protection.

Gauntlet style will give you the most protection. You'll definitely want leather.
I'd recommend either Teknic or Alpinestars. I have both in stock.

best to try them on. its the small things that matter and can make me buy gloves or keep looking. Astars I like because the stitching is on the outside which means that seem wont be on the inside rubbing my fingers raw.

I always have/will use Dirt bike gloves for the comfort and the grip. Personally I hate not being able to feel through my gloves.
Pros: You have much better feel, Much better movement, Better Grip, Light Weight, Thin (not hot)
Con: NO PROTECTION IF YOU GO DOWN

If you want the Protection if you go down.. I'd say go with these
Thor supermoto series, feel like dirt bike gloves, protect like street/track gloves. (I dont use them b/c the armor limits mobility and I rarely get over 30 MPH on my streetbike so i'm not worried about it.)

I use Alpinestars GP-Pro gloves and could not be happier with them. They look good, and have help up very well in two small crashes. They're a little uncomfortable for about the first 500 miles, but after that, they fit perfectly.:nod:

The Alpinestar Alloy Gloves I bought from MU a couple of weeks ago are working out great. They are leather shorties with knuckle protection. The leather isnt super thick on the fingers, so they have great feel/feedback They were a little tight at first, but within a week they stretched a little and are very comfortable now. Great street glove.:icon_thum

i had the Alpine Star Gp Plus gloves. very good gloves. my right hand rubbed up againist a wall and it held up pretty damn good and i still wear the same gloves. :nod:

How 'bout them gauntlet style playtex? I hear they give good protection from harsh detergents AND you can still pick up a dime.

I have these and they're really comfortable. I don't know how they do in a crash but judging by the size of the knuckle guard thing I think they'd do good. I just hate having to take them off everytime I have to do something, I wish I could find gloves I could feel things in.
