i want to change my stock sprocket to a vortex but they only have 520 chain pitch.. if anyones encountered this prob.. do you have to convert it from 525 to 520 and is there any advantage to it?

Vortex aluminum rear sprockets typically don't hold up well.
I also wouldn't recommend using a 520 conversion on the street, they don't last as long.
Are you just needing to go up a few teeth on your rear sprocket?

you could also go one down in the front.

Drop down 1 tooth in the front and stay with your stock chain. Unless the chain is crap but I would stay with the stock size on the street.

My personal opinion, unless you race, there's no reason to use aluminum.
If you ride 600 or 750, 520 or 525, doesn't really matter (again unless you race).
If you ride 1000, I wouldn't recommend 520 or 525.
Just to convert, you need to change front, rear sprocket and chain, that's it.
For the street, I would stick with steel sprockets and 525.
Unless you are crazy about wheeling, I wouldn't mess too much with rear sprocket.
