do we need to bring spare gas? or is one tank enough?
CBR600RR
05-11-2005, 10:17 PM
Im trying to make a trailor out of these jetski holders. If its done by the 28th then i can probably add 1 or 2 extra bikes onto it. But i think SYD is getting that large trailor.
CarbonJames
05-12-2005, 06:57 AM
definately need extra gas , just ask syd,,,, haha lol
i filled mine up every two sessions,, you really use alot of fuel b/c youre runnin your bike at really high rpm's all day, constantly changing gears on the gas off the gas, so you do use more gas than you normally would,,,,
so bring extra unless you can afford to pay $5-6 per gallon for the race fuel that you dont even need to use.

so we only cover 120mile max the whole day? shit my sv can hit 150miles on a full tank.

i got fueled up 4 times for 120 miles of riding at the track,... your bike doesnt run at low rpm's, so youre gonna use more fuel...

I ride a 1000 and I take my bike half full to be a little ligther and carry with me a 6 gal tank. I fill up some after every session and I can go all day and still have some left in the tank. I think for you guys on 600 it may even take less gas. But as James said, it does take a bit more than normal.

ill be calling uhaul tomorrow to ask about the big trailers and if you guys can pitch in for the trailer, the bigger one we can get for more bikes. we're taking an 04 expedition, FYI.
i hope syd gets that trailer. supposed to be 8x10 i think.

sorry I didnt post the link to them! I dunno what I was thinking.* The trailer is this one..*

This is a little different than the one Home Depot carries but I think the one they have there is the 9000 model. I bought it and went to home depot and purchased the wheel stop and installed it on there and it works great. If I have any pics of mine I will post them later...
As of last time I checked H.D. did carry these.* I havent been back in about a month but I dunno why they wouldnt have them. I paid $350 and it has done the job in my opinion.*

keeps you really cool... and makes jumping in and out of leathers easy... just feel the fabric and you'll see what i mean...

They are good for learning your basic turn in points but I need to find other reference points for braking, exiting and things of that nature. Then I can work on my lines by adjusting my timing with those referenc points. Also, when you are racing you may not get to always aim for the white x's. So, they are good at first but then you have to let them go.... if you find your self making to many mistakes then you go back to them and practice more. Just my theory..... maybe somebody faster and more intelligent could give better advice.

i dunno... i just don't want to risk it u know... not on a track day...
i don't go by the cones or the x's either... i use the track itself... my position... and my speed... then adjust to where i want to be at the exit... (typically i like to go in deep, flick it and cut it in tight...)

We can work on it together... I was hoping to drill Syd with some questions as well.* :tongue5:
sounds like a plan to me
LOL! Syd has only been on the track but like 3 times... I think he needs a little more drilling himself. As for the Xs... USE THEM!!! they were set out there by Ty howard and for those who know who he is he's one fast mofo. They are set in spots where your would use them if you were really haulin ass. I have talked to CMRA people that say they use them themselves and after a while u kinda get into rhythm and know where they are and dont really have to look at them, but that doesnt mean you're not using them. You can even ask the instuctors form the school, they will all tell u to use them. That and the cones, they are out there for a reason, not just for beginners. I run in the A group and I still use them myself, even though I already know where they are, they come handy sometimes... If I was runnin in group 2 w/u guys I wouldn't mind showin u guys that want some lines and giving u some tips. Andy (coonassme) followed me through the track a while back when he first started and he said he made improvement when he followed me and saw what I was doing. Following someone that knows what they're doin definitely helps! :icon_thumright:

not yet. that uhual semi-truck syd wanted to get is to expensive so we might just rent a trailor. the most bikes we can fit there is probaly three, but for sure javier and i.
sucks cuz we were all supposed to go together on that trailor.

o, then maybe ill just truck my bike there. im pretty sure i can borrow a truck from a friend.
which trailer are u getting, the motorcycle specific one and how much?

not the one for the motorcycle but the small enclosed one. i think its 8x5.
hopefully syd can get this thing straightened out soon. we dont mind pulling a bigger trailor but it looks like theres no way we can pull 8 bikes in a trailor

we dont need to pull an 8 bike trailor if we can do two 4bike trailor. i dont think my 4runner can pull it, but i could probably borrow a truck that could.

we thought we only had the expedition to pull trailers. can you bring your 4runner of borrow a truck that has a hitch?
we can get a 4 bike trailer for about 19.95 a day. thats just $40 devided by four people = $10 plus gas money for those that pull it.

a hitch is the thing that pulls it right? my 4runner comes equipped with it, i just need to get that ball thingy to pull it. but i dunno if i want to pull 4 bikes with it, the thing is lacking in hp. 180hp 200 torque. i;ll try to inquirer on that truck.

the 4runner should be ok pulling it. we were going to pull 8 bikes in the expedition.
just remember were not going to be pulling these things at 85 mph :icon_thumright:

380lb a bike x4 = 1520lb load.
still pretty heavy but doable.

also, were pulling them so we get momentum and not that much energy is spent after we get going just when we take off with a burnout.
