Im gonna start going this month, maybe next month, and i need to get the right gear. The gloves i have are worn and i want to buy some that i can use both on and off of the track but im not looking for anything like this.

Also, i need to find some boots that are comfy and easy to move around. I tried the Gaernes but they were too stiff even though i walked around to try and break them in. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

those gloves should be fine.

as for boots, i use Sidi's....comfortable, adjustable, and have vents for the hot summers. and you can close the vents for the cold winters.

Hey your about my size from what i remember. What size leathers did you get?

first is get the best gear you can afford. next look for full coverage type gear vs the less coverage type like your two pics above the bottom one will cover past your wrist. Look for enforced padding on contact areas pinky. palm, thumb etc. I think with boots sidi are the favorite.

Thanks! Im just trying to get away from having to buy two pairs of gloves and i just cant see myself wearing some past my wrists on a daily basis.

Sidi vertigo. picked them up from patrick a few months ago. i used a stars before then, and i like the sidi's better.

i bought a 1 piece fieldsheer flex suit. i believe it is a size 48. it's a bit long for me, but fits my gut. the boots hold up the knee protection and knee sliders in the correct position (my suit is a wee bit longer than i need). as for sleeve length, easy fix with a talented leather tailor.

i might have some alpinestars GP+ gloves i'd sell ya, size XL. $90, full gaunlet style gloves.

dude i use those gloves on top, when i got knocked off the bike a few weeks ago i slid with my knuckle facing the pavement and hand under my body (30mph appr.), the glove worked great, i still use them now, but i think if u slide with the palm down they are gonna tear,

my .02 i would use a glove with more protection... :-\

even though i dont ride track yet i plan on getting a better set. i posted because i own a a set.

Don't cheap out on the gloves. But just because they cost doesn't mean they're gonna work when you need them too. Stick with brands that have been crash tested many times by racers. When I started riding I couldn't fathom paying more than 50 bux on gloves. Now that I ride the track more my Held Phantoms cost $200, and are worth every penny.

For the track you're definitely going to want full gauntlet gloves.
Better armor, thicker leather, stronger seams and when you go down they won't come off or roll up the way short gloves can.
Personally I like Teknic or Alpinestars.

DEFINITELY stay away from the Moto GP crap!

That first pair of shorties would not be allowed to roll at MSRH. We had a guy two trackdays ago, snuck a pair on the track and went down. Glove rolled up and ground his wrist down pretty good. Only thing that saved his wrist was his Timex being ground down. Protection always wins out over "coolness", I don't think there is a trackday operator that would knowingly let you roll out on track with the shorties. Buy the full coverage gauntlet style..........From Patrick!
