98 r1 with 02 r1 motor will it fit

can you put a 02 motor in a 98 r1 frame i know ti will need air box modification because of carb vs fuel injection.

You'll need to do more than just that.
I'd recommend finding an '98 - '01 engine, you'll have less headaches.

one of the trickest setups ive ridden when a 00 R1 with the 03 Fuel injected motor...One of the best bikes evar, and a fantasticly easy engine to ride...and no carb headache

sorry man, Ive played with carbs for years...

The 'Guess and check' just get's old after a while, especially for track setup...

FI...plug your computer in, high altitude, load the other map or just adjust the trim, etc...

no more swapping jets, adjusting needles, etc....

FI is simply faster...

Just a personal preferance, no knockin on carbed bikes...

Shit the 02 R1 motor was a f*ckin set of CV carbs with a fuel injector instead of a venturi.

carb head ache? please.........he's one of those people stuck on the newest thing. he doesn't understand. the injected r1 that came out after the carbed one had less hp than the carbed one. carburation is very smooth also. and with proper tuning can be just as good as fuel injection. oh yeah he must have never heard a set of flat slides howling at full bore. unbelievable sound.

I must agree on this one. My r6 is just as crisp on/off the throttle as my fi bike. I always pour a lil fuel stabilizer in with my gas or run the gas outta the carbs before i put the bike away. no carbs problems yet.

slowkat got it right with the fuel injection on high altitude. Self adjustment, no lack of power like carburators.
