This is a really simple and quick how to for those of us that would like to install a rivet link.* This is a truely painless job, AFC probably wouldn't get a beer open before this one should be done.
================================================== =======
TOOLS REQUIRED:* Rivet link press tool (Motion Pro is pictured)
TOOLS RECOMMENDED: 14mm rachet, 14mm open end wrench, hammer and flat* *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *head screw driver
MATERIALS REQUIRED: Correct rivet link for you chain type and size, chain lube
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *shop towels
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is three pictures just to show you the bare essiential you need to have to start off.*

Anvil (this was difficult to picture well)

Rivet Link, side plate and O-Rings
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v366/Cever/R6MN%20HOWTO/Rivet%20Link/2parts.jpg
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1:* Take the Rivet link and place the O-Rings on.* Then push the link through
* * * * * * * the chain portion you want to link together.*

Step 2:* Install the O-rings on the other side.*

Step 3:* Take the side plate and place it on the pins of the rivet link.* Now take
* * * * * * * the Rivet tool and use it to press the plate fully on and mash the O-rings
* * * * * * * into place.* You may need to do it partially on each pin,* then go back
* * * * * * * and do it fully.* You would need to do this to prevent bending or kinking
* * * * * * * the side plate.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v366/Cever/R6MN%20HOWTO/Rivet%20Link/6presssideplateon.jpg
Step 4:* Now that the side plate is fully seated onto the links insert the riveting
* * * * * * *pin and return spring into the tool and insert the push bolt.* Also, install
* * * * * * *the anvil on the opposite end. This is pictured off the bike, however, this
* * * * * * *is not require and was done simply for ease of photography.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v366/Cever/R6MN%20HOWTO/Rivet%20Link/7InsertingRivettipandpushbolt.jpg
Step 5:* Now that the entire tool is assembled ensure it is properly lined up and
* * * * * * * the pin is dead center in the middle of the pins you will be riveting.* This
* * * * * * * is the moment of truth.* Use the supplied handle or a 14mm socket to
* * * * * * * begin to tighten down on the rivet.* There is no way to say exactly how
* * * * * * * much you should tighten to get a perfect rivet.* I suggest just going a
* * * * * * * little then check your progress.* If it is good then move on to the next
* * * * * * * pin, if not just reinstall the tool and repeat this step until you see a good
* * * * * * * rivet.* Repeat the rivet process for both pins.

Step 6.* Use a rag to clean up any debris or excess packing grease from the rivet
* * * * * * * link.* Check the link for proper movement.* If you notice any binding or
* * * * * * * kinking cut the rivet link back out and do another.* I have never had this
* * * * * * * happen, but it is a possibilty.* Now put some chain lube on the top and
* * * * * * * bottom of the roller and you are ready to go.* Take the first few miles
* * * * * * * easy and double check the link once again.*
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And as a special bonus I purchased 2 Rivet links so I could intentionally make a bad rivet to show you exactly what a bad rivet looks like.
This is a split rivet.* You can do this by not having the tool aligned correctly or by overtightening.

This was the real PITA.* What happens if you forget the anvil?* Well I wanted to know too.* The pin was pushed out much like you would want to remove the link, however the rivet tip wedged into the side plate and I ended up using a hammer and screw driver to pop the side plate off.*
