ok, found these on the jockey journal, they are fat bobs that have been dished.
I'm going to sand em down and do gloss black and cream insert with old style harley script.
looking for ideas on Harley script or logos that would look good old school in the insert area.
the color is real pretty in the sunlight, they are orange metallic with a pinstripe eagle head blending into flames. I like it, just the wrong color and wrong type bike.

Im my quick haste to read, first I thought you got some killer weed, then I thought you got a peice of ass.
I guess this could be a inbetween.

I like em, how will they be mounted, you decided yet? ( just wondering if your going to do something custom)

Hey Scooter, what do you think a 1989 Harley Sportster is worth. 9xxx miles, a fair bit of oxidization on the forks, drag bars, corbin seat and it hasn't ran in 3 years due to the guy putting it in storage while working overseas.

gonna cut the brackets off of them and redo the bracketry to fit the sporty.
Am thinking either gloss black or mebbe the whole set up in flat black with only the dished inserts with cream and semi-gloss finish.
I dunno, I'll do all the cutting and make the mounting tabs and reweld em on this weekend, then primer em up flat black, see what they look like.

yes maaaaam, you got any "old looking " script ideas? I am thinking flat black tank bodies with just the insert being a semi-gloss cream and the script then semi-gloss clear coat.

I'm not sure about the flat black--I like things SHINY!! I might like it if I saw it--I just can't picture it. Any pinstiping or trim around the insert??

I typed vintage Harley Davidson into Google and I just like the old school print.

Make sure you post some pics after you install it.

Flat black is gonna look odd with the rest of your rig having gloss black.

I would definately have to redo the fenders and side panels to match. I am thinking of "bobbing" the rear fender anyways, dunno yet, looking for another before I yop mine.
I really havent decided yet, just dunno on the glossy / flat yet.
mebbe I'll put drag bars on it buy a small headlight fairing and paint everything Harley "Racing Orange" with white inserts and pinstriping and do blackwall rubber. (I likes <~~~~ this idea toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:nod: )

If you're still going for that nostalgic look, then I think you need to leave it gloss. If you're looking for that really cool Russ Mitchell look, then flat back and a fatter front tire:icon_thum

As cliche as the orange racing sceme sounds, I ALWAYS love seeing bikes with that look.

Dumb question about bobbing the back fender--does that just mean cut it shorter or give it that little flare upward. I love the fender with the little flare.

I agree on the flat vs. gloss question. Flat black reminds me of something they'd ride in Mad Max--you know...beyond the thunderdome!?!?! Dusty, dingy, bleak.....:eek3:
