All,

We have a TAMU intern here at work, her fiance' in just bought a used Kawa Ninja 250. It surprised her, and she asked me about riding. So....we had a long talk about him taking a MSF course, getting the bike checked out by a mechanic, the risks of riding, managing those risks and such. Being a returning rider myself last March, and being 57 and not 23 years old, I did my best to offer knowledge. She found him a MSF basic course to take where he is this summer in California. She is also going to insist he get an armored mesh jacket, boots, gloves and slider jeans and wear them.

They are wonderful people, and I hope he takes the safest path towards competency. Her initial reaction was more than a bit fearful and concerned. Knowledge has value. Hopefully he will follow through.

I also suggested that when they both get back to TAMU grad school this summer: take the MSF herself, and learn to ride. She is trying to understand the allure, the intoxication of riding. There is one way.
