View Full Version : Meeting Parade lap requirements at a TD?

I have TD's in the planning stages, but until then, I'm trying to convince some fellow riders to come out and just do some parade laps with me at the next GSS trackday July 17th. Then maybe the next time at MSRH whenever that may be. I'm trying to find out all of the requirements that we need to meet so we don't get rejected.
My first ever TD visit I thought I had to have full gear and all to go on the parade laps. So I set on the sidelines eating bar b que while I watched guys wearing tennis shoes, and blue jeans cruise around the track. The bar b que I was eating was good, but it wasn't that good.

What I'd like to know is???
Clothing requirements? I know atleast full face helmet, full finger gloves, good riding jacket. But what about the pants and footwear? And anything else that I missed?

As far as the machine. Except for waving the rule of the taping or disconnecting of lights, mirrors, license plate, etc. Will tech be looking at everything else of a normal TD session inspection. Especially tires, how much wear will still be acceptable? I'll have new scuffed ones on, but I'm not sure about my fellow riders.

Another question is about the parade session itself.
Don't we have a riders meeting to attend first?
And how long does the actual track time usually last for the parade laps?
What's the general rules while out parading around? I know it's not a race but I/we really don't want to get stuck behind a guy on a Goldwing. I'll be on an 08 CBR1000 in full gear and HD Hero. And if my coworker comes he'll be on an 05 busa possibly with a friend or 2 on comparable machines. Where/when if at all, will it be legal to pass? Or get passed? What will be the distance limits to staying away from other paraders?
If the track is open in front of us. Other than riding within our own abilities, is there a rule of speed that we have to follow?
Is 2UP ever allowed for parade laps?

That's all I can think of for know. If anyone can think of anything else feel free to add it in.

Thanks,
Reese

Gloves, jeans, jacket, gloves, over the ankle boots. Parade laps carry at a decent pace. They explain all the rules. It's the next best thing to a crackday...i mean Trackday :)
