how soon should people take the advanced course after starting

i would guess as soon as you feel you have basic riding down, once you got the hang of everything they taught in basic, i would guess your ready for advanced. ???

i would guess after u are feelin comfortable with the basics.
i might take it once i step up to a 636

I know at awesome cycles you have wait either 6 months or put 3000 miles on your bike. I was thinking about taking the advance course as well. Let me if you decide to take it.

What's the reason for taking the advanced course, and not going to LMS or something?

i recommend having 5-6000mi under your belt.

Am i correct im assuming that you have to take the basic course before you are allowed to take the advanced.

not necessarily, you do need to have your M endorsement, and a street legal bike w/ inspection and insurance.

Cool. I've have all that. I've been riding for like 14 years. i think I would feel a little silly on those little bikes after all these years of riding. I would however like to get some advanced training.

don't we have plenty of students who've been riding as long if not longer, and they come outta class learning a thing or 2. the only people who "DON'T" learn anything are usually 18-23 y.o. who ride sportbikes and have about 5-6 mos. of experience.

if you gotto class to learn, you will.

No doubt that I would learn something or at least get refreshed on something I have forgotten in the classroom.

I've wondered this, so... what extra skills do you learn over those taught in the basic class?

I can't really think of much other than low speed maneuvers that you can do in the limited confines of the range.

During the Experienced Rider Course you won't learn anything new per se...you will practice alot of the emergency and evasive techniques that are taught in the Basic Course...Cornering, Swerving, Stopping Quickly and Stopping Quickly in Curves...You should know how to do most of these before taking the ERC, and if you are having to do them on the street alot of the time, take the Basic Course first...
