i just got a new jacket & i don't exactly like the way it fits . so a friend of mine told me to soak it in water & wear it until it dries . that process will shrink & conform the jacket to my body . has anyone ever done or heard of this ?

tell him to give you a refund guarantee if he iz so sure it will work! That will bring forth his true confidence in that method of sizing an expensive jacket.:icon_thum

Sounds like a bad idea to me. I would use leather conditioner or mink oil.

It is leather.... use products made for conditioning leather. Not that big of a deal. KISS

shoe stretch and hot glove are both for leather so no biggie there. both are easier and prolly cheaper to get than special stuff. but leathers are expensive so really no excuse for cheaping out.

ok for my leather Frank Thomas jacket i used baseball glove oil, loosened the jacket up great! I put it on and let it soak over night then wore the jacket for a good ride the next day and it loosened up great in about 20 mins of riding! Got this tip from a friend who does this to his track leathers.

is it too big? the jacket wont shrink much. just get a better size. if not try the above methods.

i ridden in heavy downpour that pretty much mimic soaking the jacket in water and wearing it. doesnt make a difference, but i wouldnt soak my jacket if i didnt have to.

i just use whatever lotion and cleaner i use to clean my car leather seats on my jackets and suits. right now that meguir stuff.

Armoral makes a nice all in one cleaner conditioner. Used it on all my track suits. Helps with the slide across the pavement as well.

you can also throw it in the dryer w/ a pair of shoes, tumble it for a bit..........MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF THE HEAT!!

that'll beat it softer.

you can buy the little balls specifically for that purpose if anyone is interested....

have you guys ever used the waterproofing agents for leathers (the sprays etc) I'm planning on wearing my jacket on the street and as we all know sometimes you get wet. Haven't been unlucky yet but just wanted to know if anyone has tried something htat worked great

it would be really funny to try and swim in leathers-imagine treading water for 15 minutes or so.

While I have been in downpours that left about 2 inches of water in the bottom of my boots the leathers didn't really shrink. They might shape better. Either way if they get wet make sure to treat them.

did you see that issue of the british bike magazine where the guy jumped in the pool in full leathers?

said they actually held air and kept him near the top, at least for the first 10 mins or so.
