After doing a 13 hour day at the med center I walked to my bike to leave, and discoved it was not there.
After checking with the hospitals I work with, TMC parking, and HPD. I had to report it stolen.
It is costume painted, powder coated, and the seat has been redone as well. Various other performace and cosmetic mods also. The headlight covers are also easily detachable as well.
It is an 08 CBR 1000. The tail section is totally different from most 08 CBR's as well. There aren't too many bikes that look this way.

I realize I probably won't see it again. BUT IF YOU HAPPEN TO SEE IT, call it in to the police. Send a message or leave a comment. Hopefully we can get a bike thief off the street, for alittle while.

Since these pics were taken I have put on Leo-Vince all Carbon slip-on, with carbon cover plate.

With the frequency of bike thefts in that area it doesn't seem like it would be all that difficult to run a sting with a bait bike. Not that we should expect cops to do police work or anything..

It's been bad over there for so long the fact that the police don't do anything about it is criminal in itself. It's been years. They tried stealing my truck over there in '04. There was an "epidemic" of thefts in that area at the time, and here it is seven years later and that's still one of the worst places in town. Ridiculous.

I asked TMC parking and St. Lukes if anyone even had a camera pointed at that spot. They both told me no.
[U]In the end, they can't control the actions of shitty people. It is so frustrating to have this happen[/U
]As far as crime in general in the med center
The officer I talked to said they have had a problem with car break-ins there, because there is no real punishment coming from the court system. Some one breaks in, gets caught, they get held for a day or so then released with a misdemoner. No real incentive to stop.

That was the problem, apparently there are no cameras on the bike parking. So the the cops had nothing to work with. This was also why I was angry at TMC parking. There are camera's everywhere, but on motorcycle parkingt area.

Still stolen. Honestly, I don't think I will get it back. I thought by now it would be in pieces, or that or some asshole in mexico would be riding wheelies on it.
If it is still here in one piece that is the best case scenerio. There is a chance the DB that stole it could still be riding it. I hope he falls at 90 wearing nothing but jeans and at T-shirt. If he survives then I hope some one calls the cops and he gets taken to jail.
If it was pearl white, with that tail, white wheels and seats, it was probably mine. Not many 08 CBR 1K's in houston modded like that. Let me know if you see it again.

Really sorry to hear man, it was a good looking bike. I've been in Houston for 3 months and if it's one thing I've learned from reading on here is DON'T LET YOUR BIKE OUT OF YOUR SIGHT!! Anywhere in any town/city when you park your bike out somewhere, you "park at your own risk". That's why I haven't gone out to any meets from here. I don't know if there's any place I'd be able to walk away and not still have it in sight. Not dumping on you, but i keep reading on here about bikes getting stolen. And in a lot of cases, the owners had bad judgement on where it was parked or stored.

unfortunately, he will probably only get a slap on the wrist for the bike theft. A couple of months in jail, a little bit of probation, maybe some piss in a cup...that's really no incentive to "go clean" and change.

I'm glad they caught the guy...I just hope that would mean they would also watch him and his ring of buddies from now on.

I'm guessing they already cut you a check for it then. Something to consider...the thief probably broke the steering lock, which would have damaged the frame. Most insurance companies will total the bike, because the cost of parts + labor to swap everything to a new frame just isn't cost-effective. Insurance companies usually sell totaled bikes for a fraction of their market value, so if you're willing to live with the damaged frame (and no steering lock), you can get your bike back and still have money in your pocket.

Yes, they have already paid me. If that turns out to be the case, I was think of using it as a track bike, I don't think it will affect stability and strength of the frame.
I know this will murder the resale value of the bike. So selling it, to anyone but a track addict, when it is time to part ways may be a pain.

Typically damages the lock cylinder, but no damage to the frame. From what I am reading, there is no reason this bike could not be returned to street service, but will likely have a salvage title due to the total loss associated with prior theft.

do you think a chain or an alarm would of helped deter the thief in the medical center? Since it'll take time to cut it and theyre exposed to ppl walking around them. The alarms are pretty sensitive to movement if they decide to just pick up the bike and not break the chain.

I wish I could. I have been looking, but the other bidder(s) are totally anonymous. I really would like to get my old bike back.

lol pwnt. Really though, sorry to hear about your bike man, i haven't seen you in awhile. Really glad they caught the asshole who did this. You should try to press charges against the thief, give a run for his money/lack of. Usually cops ask you if you want to press charges.

Thank you for the offer. I already have an online broker already. I am just waiting the sale date now.

I already told them I am willing to put charges on the guy. Plus State Farm is suing him for the value of the bike and my deductible.

It has been a while. Pm me, tell me how you have been doing.
