man i was dumping it all day long into the keyhole, couldnt seem to get past that freakin gap between the track pavement and the concrete patch mentally, last session i finally started running through it in 2nd gear instead of grabbing first. that made the entire launch combo from the elevation waaay smoother. just had to start ignoring it.

Did scraping the peg cause the crash?
Sounds like the throttle got chopped and more lean applied at the same time?

Glad it was only the bike Floyd
How many miles/TD did those street tires had?

How many miles/TD did those street tires had?
first time at the track on those tires... they were new and had about 100 street miles, I still had chicken strips on the side..
This was the 4 session out there.. it was about 10 minutes into the session.

I felt like it was just a simple low side... Nothing like braving too much brake or ripping the throttle open, I felt like I went in smooth doing 50 actual mph and the front end just went right under me..

One of the riders when down on the same spot as I did.. I'm just glad that It happened at the track and that I was able to walk home and go back out there to try it again.. this time I will spend the extra cash on some nice rubber.

I agree with the fact that it seems the front just went.
That being said, it seems you were not fully focused on riding, rather on everything that was going on around you (this and that guy crashed, I looked to see if someone was coming, etc.) that could have also played a factor.
As you mentioned before, it might be time to switch to race rubber. Although, that is a lot of money my friend, as that means stands, warmers, generator and plausibly, geometry set up. If you still ride the street, you may want to buy a different set of wheels.
The 211 are pretty goods, I would suggest you try the GPAs (American) before the GPs (UK). Call Allan (Mr Whoopie), I am sure he can explain more about Dunlop Race Tires.
I have a set of 211 GPA - Medium compund - takeoffs that I could let go for about 100 (front and rear) or 65 for the rear only (I have two). You could also check Brandts (CDILL) threads, or PM Alonzo (Dr. Gonzo), they have some UK takeoffs as well. The good thing about buying takeoffs at first is that you get to try all tire brands before you decide which one to use.

I recently switched from BT-002rs to the new Pirelli Diablo Superbike Pro slicks. I can't speak highly enough about them. They can be run without warmers, have a very forgiving profile, extremely high tire life, and fantastic grip for the speeds I'm capable of.
Floyd, you might want to check those out. Teams are running them for endurance because of the longevity of the tire. SCRC hooked me up solid on price.
Be warned though - I get picked on for having street plastics and slicks.

My last set of tires were D211's, Got them from Jimmy and I had a blast last march at MSRH on them.. I have all the warmers and also all the stands. also... I will be keeping the R6 for track only as of right now.. and getting a cruiser or a Spider for street.
I'm trying to just have something to cruise around town and something to play at the track..
I know Brant and Jimmy (BAD ASS PEOPLE) I will ask them when its time to get new tires... But from now on .. if i'm going to be riding out there running 50's for a track noob then I will spend the extra cash on some bad ass set of tires! :thumb:
Also.. I saw the guy that crashed in front of me a lap before he I went down, I was very focus on my riding and also my line, after seen the second guy that crashed and ALSO been on the track for about 12+ minutes on that session I was ready to slow down and take it easy.. Actully that was my last lap because I wanted to go get my suspention set up, It has been about 2 years last time I tuned it up.:angry7:
I looked behind me to make sure that I wasn't holding anyone.. I dont like to make traffic out there.
Over all I had fun, I think I was very focuse on what I was doing and lossing the front end was just an accident I call it. I could be wrong because I'm no expert but I tell you for sure I will be out there to try it again..

Don't be, it wasn't the tires. Not many people can outrun the limits of a decent dual-compound trackday/street tire.
Dr. Gonzo, a CMRA expert, commented on this in a Q2 thread about a year ago.

if you have a reputable full-sport tire and felt like it failed then it is more likely to be caused by excessive wear or incorrect air pressure before its inability to support your x-treme riding.
floyd600
05-11-2011, 01:41 PM
I love the Q2's I have been riding on them over a year and I would get another set on no time! I really dont know what happen... It wasn't that I hit the throttle or anything like that because I was riding just smooth on THAT turn.. My whole balls out was done before.... It wasn't that I hit the brakes because I never used the brakes.. It was all engine brake.. Tire pressure was set at 31 front and 30 rear (the tire guy told me to set them at that pressure.. (i think his name is john??))
It just happened... I'm not worry about it.. I was very happy and I didnt care much for it because I know that "SHIT happens"
All I can do now is fix the bike and get back out there!!!

It wasn't the Q2's, that's for sure. I have put mine through some serious punishment without any lack of confidence. I might try a set of 211's in the future. The Diablo SBK Pros sound like an awesome tire, but I would have to get another set of wheels to switch back to a DOT tire for street.

catch up fool!!
I was riding my ass off for about 6 laps before I went down... so I dont think it was the tire's fault But at this point.. I really dont care what it was..:D
Thats what I said it was just a simple low side... It may had been something on the track on that one spot, it may had been too much lean angle.. I dont know...
But what I do know.. Its that YOU NEED TO POST YOUR PICTURES!! THE REAL ONES!! :banghead::banghead:

I had no idea that was you right next to me in the paddock! (You can see my front fairing between you and your dad.) Shoulda said hi. I know you saw my MH shirt. Props for getting back on the bike and going track! After your first accident is when you really know how much riding means to you. Some people stay away and others get right back on.

You and your dad look alike  Nice to see family come out to the tracks...there was a guy next to me who is also from MH (forget his SN - he doesn't post much) who had won a 50% off raffle and I think it was his 1st trackday. He has caught the disease!

I forgot to add about the other guy next to me, he had his family out there too. Forgetting things is part of growing old!

Yup, that was me. Nice to meet you all out there. I'm definitely bit by the bug. I'm planning my next day now, just having trouble deciding which day! Looking at the next MSRH date in June if I can get the old lady to ok it. Happens to fall on fathers day so I'm a lil' iffy.
Thanks for the advice Ormond. I'm sure I'll see you out there again soon!
