Authorities are awaiting toxicology reports. My GUESS is that he was drinking. BL was a wild man for whom I didn't really care much.

Even if there's no alcohol in his blood, He was trying to pass two other vehicles on a double yellow-lined. As far as I know double yellow lines means no passing.

No doubt even if he wasn't drunk the deceased family is going to sue the crap out of him. I wonder why the moped didn't head for the ditch you ain't ever going to win against a cage in a headon.

the moped-er and BL probably never saw each other until it was too late. The reason for the double yellow usually indicates a limited sight distance, suchas going up a hill you can't see the other side, so you shouldn't pass...
i hope the best for both parties....
btw, i bet the 22 year old was pretty fine...

No charges were filed??? :eh: He passed two cars on a double yellow and killed a motorcyclist? Yeah, I'd say charges should be filed.

i wouldn't be too quick on the yellow line thing b/c it may well have been solid and skips or maybe they turned into double solids after Lane initiated the pass. Really hope he didn't have alcohol in his system though.

He's a good guy? WTF? You guys kill me. The same guy who was well known for his heavy drinking and partying,? I'm sure DUI was a regular part of his routine. However, it doesn't matter whether or not he had alcohol in his system. The fact is that he made an illegal pass and struck an innocent guy and killed him. Sorry, but I won't be wishing luck to Billy Lane here. He should serve time for his crime. Vehicular manslaughter.
If this was a story in the local Houston paper, you guys would be trashing the irresponsible cager. Just because it's a guy who makes kick-ass choppers (in some people's opinions), it's different? :BangHead:

i don't think anyone is pardoning his crimes on here just b/c he builds cool bikes. he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law IMO, just like everyone else.

Unfortunately, he will only get a slap on the wrist for vehicular manslaughter.
My 12 yr.old brother in law was killed and by brother permanently disabled because of a drunk driver. He got off in two friggin years! It was his his 8th DWI in a year and he was driving with a suspended license and fleeing the scene of 2 accidents!!! There is no justice in this world. I feel for the family. I would OWN Choppers Inc if that was my family that died!

It was 8. He was out of jail 2 weeks when he ****ed up my brother and killed my b/i/L.
Like I said , there is no *real* justice in this world.

"We do believe he was impaired based on the evaluations the trooper did on Mr. Lane,"
from a B/L fan
""I would doubt he would hit a guy on a bike, and I would even doubt if he was drinking and driving," said customer Joe Garcia."
even though Lane has a court date on OCT 5 for charges of drunk driving in North Carolina........

there's criminal court and civil court. the family of the dead guy will sue the pants off of billy, and they'll win. he did in fact kill him and it was negligent.

Exactly, the major difference is... Criminal Court you must be guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Civil Court has no such statute associated with it.
