i got a 99 harley davidson road king. clean title, 152k miles (rebuilt engine at 150k miles)
this is all i know so far-
rinehart exhaust
screamin eagle heads
screamin eagle 1550 flat top pistons
engine bored .30 over
every option chromed with all steel braided lines
converted to carbureted
progressive rear suspension
the paint is flawless and same goes for the chrome
oversized removable shield
have all receipts for upgrades and repairs (almost all actually, dates back to 01/2003 with over $10,000 in receipts)
Religiously changed oil with Ams oil fully synthetic/k&n oil filter
motor rebuilt with all the above mentioned less than 2 months (built by harley dealer)
This harley has been babied by its previous owner
(all original parts in boxes)
I'm not sure what else it has, because I don't know much about harley's. take a look at the pics. my question is now, how much is this bad boy worth?

Yeah - especially with a 1550BB upgrade. There was some serious coin (pronounced 'qwan') put into it. Only 5K on the rebuild. To be honest, I'm surprised that motor lasted 147K! :eek3:

ok, but , normally you never get back what you put into an "older" vehicle.........i mean the frame still has 150+K, thats a tired frame. and what about all the susp. pieces.

the motor is pretty much brand spankin new, built by harley professionals. almost every part on the bike (besides the frame) has been upgraded or replaced. it's truely a FLAWLESS bike. the person i bought it from took it on tours around the states. they've traveled to maine, california, and a few other states.
the only reason i ask how much it's worth, despite the miles, is the engine upgrade and condition it's in. i could pay you $1,000 for every scratch, ding, or dent you can find on the bike, and you would still leave empty handed.
-suspension has been upgraded recently also-
i believe the only thing still oem from the factory is the frame and body pieces of course.

Ya, I still think it would fetch $10K, even with the mileage - especially if well taken care of.

Suggested Retail Value $12990
The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

yeah, but that price is prolly a 10k mi bike, not 152+.....
i've often wondered how resale is on an HD thats actually ridden. i guess this kinda answers my ?.

Ya, what's weird is that it didn't even take mileage into account (there was no where to enter mileage, or even the condition).

right, so if you had an un-modded similar bike w/ 10k and modded bike w/ 150k......you think they are gonna be the same value.......??
TxVrod
08-02-2006, 03:56 PM
No, I think the 10K bike would go for more.

an unbelieveable price. well here's the story.
this lady is a customer of my familys auto shop. we do a lot of her maintenance and repair work. her husband had his own harley and he got into an accident and died on his harley. she is very emotional right now and decided to sell everything and move to austin (including selling her harley because it reminds her of him). so she offered this motorcycle to me for 5,000 :eek3: :eek3: :eek3:, because we have been good to her in the past. i even filled up the bed of a truck with all the parts and extras he had. if you saw his garage, you could see how this guy takes care of things. he had everything arranged and dated in boxes and in order. she gave me all the receipts she had, i'm talking about EVERYTHING. i bought it to ride for a bit, until i decide to sell it, but i don't know what it's really worth, besides the blue book value. this harley was BABIED since new.

Thats one helluva deal. Too bad It came at a price. The lady must have really been hurting to just sell everything her husband loved.

yeah, she selling her house and everything. they have lots of money, so the money factor didn't really matter. she was actually crying as i rode it away from her house. she even came back over to my shop afterwards and said..."please take care of this bike, george (her husband) loved this bike as much as he loved his, and he wouldn't be happy to see it go, but as long as he knows it is going to someone who appreciates the enjoyment of riding it would be ok."
It was actually kind of a sad moment when I was leaving her house.
