*b4 i start, dont chew my @$$ about this post, it's just an idea.*
I got an idea that'll help(maybe) the guys that their rides got stolen.
What you need:
1. good friends(at least 3)
2. a motorcycle(Sportbike)
3. free time
4. Patience
5. comon sense and critical thinking
What can you do with all this:
*it is up to you to ask for compensation or such reward.*
get a hold of a person that you know whos bike got stolen from his apt-cplx. Leave the bike(one of your friends own) in the parking lot where it is visible from your apt, grab some beers(dont get drunk tho, it defeats the purpose of staying alert, lol). Now comes the waiting part, patience, patience! you can also use a night vision cam to record any activity happening around the bait bike. you need to pay close attention to any suspicious activity and/or person. like i said b4 you need free time cuz u need to stay up all night(pretty much) and if you are lucky you'll get a bite whithin the few first hours.
if any of you decided to try this, no problem. BUT, be responsible, control your emotions, dont kill the guy that's stealing your bike(i know we get emotional, i'd love to kill'em too, im not recomending any1 to do so) the main purpose is to find the nest where all the stolen bikes are and/or went.
good luck

Its the internet. Grow an extra layer of skin while logged on. :keke:

It is a good idea, bro. But too many people talk about it, too few really wanna put up their own time and bike on the line. The most important aspect is personal experience.
Most everyone doesn't care until it happens to them.

Just a suggestion: set it all up with a bike and cameras, THEN ask for volunteers.

if i had a pos bike with full coverage i would do it. i say do it in an apt. have one guy siting at every entrance with a nextel walkie talkie in a car or truck. that way he can stop him before he gets out of the apts or at least try to keep up with him. gl

Good idea...BUT.... why so much work??
just get a bike then put a GPS (or some type or radar like low jack)
park it on a spot that it will get stolen and have them take it to the spot where they take all the parts off... (the key here is for the bike to have some type of alarm system that it doesn't let the person stilling it know that it has one....but the person with the key gets alert!):thumb:

or if you live in an apartment you can do what i do. I park it right next to the door and put a fishing line running to my room through the house attached to a bell. So if anyone moves my bike the bell rings right next to my ear. Plus a security cam above the door and a motion detector light that costs nothing.

Eh, I just have insurance. I used to be all worried about it and never let the bike out of my sight anywhere I went, then I realized it was too much of a hassle. I DO have one of the best theft deterrents though. . . my bike looks like run over dogshit when you get closer than 5-10feet. Someone may want it at first, but when they get up close to it, they'll strongly reconsider.

You guys don't know how god awful boring surveillance is. Staking out one bike in one apartment.... you'll most likely be sitting on it for months while every bike around you gets jacked.

http://www.liveviewgps.com/

Everybody get one of these puppies and if it gets jacked, post up the location they take it to and THEN recruit some homeboys (bosslady, you and your shotgun can come too- but afterwards you gotta change your name to badasslady).

Personally I'd just call the cops tho. Not that I wouldn't love to kick in some doors and bust some heads, but remember that after all that shooting stops the cops are probably gonna be showing up anyway and "DEY STEAL ME BIKE!:crying:" isn't a good defense in court for massacring a bunch of assholes.

Ah, if only we could kill all the people who cause us drama.

(BTW U can skip the step of having to track the dooshbag and call the cops yourself just by installing a LoJack but aren't they like a couple grand?)

My friend's bike was almost stolen from an apartment complex on the S.E. side about a week or so ago. They cut the chain, but left it at that. Got spooked or something. Point is, the courtesy officer set up a stake-out with HPD overnight to watch the bike. But of course, nothing happened that night . I thought that was pretty fkn cool of the cops though.

lojacks are worthless. they can be removed. had a buddy get jacked(no pun intended)that had low jack. called it in and the transmitter was found close to the bike was stolen. it's only so many places you can hide that thing. best security imo,a garage,a gun,and full coverage.(all 3 would be nice, but have a garage or fc would do)

Ya the "I had a friend" defense...

1. ...he used a condom and she got pregnant therefor condoms are useless.
2. ...he had insurance but Ins Co didn't give him fair market value therefor insurance is useless.

Etc.. Etc... Tldr is nothing is fullproof but the recovery rates on lowjack are impressive

mightymouse1
02-23-2011, 12:37 PM
not to get into a pissing contest, but if a thief look for a low jack and like i said,it's not too many places they can go...if it's 1-or 2 am and you get jacked,a good crook would have gone through the bike and dump the lojack, which is what happend to him,by the time you wake up and call it in.

that's ignorant to compare condoms to lojack. you put on the condom and you are there. you are a dummy if you let her pull it off or use an out of date condom...anyway lojack is worthless if a smart thief gets to your bike. i know some shady peeps and i here the stories...NOBODY bike is safe, unless it's locked in garage and then you still have some shit heads to try to go there and get it.

Lojack with Early Waring is $699.00. :hello:

Apologies for bum info. I've seen some shops selling em for closer to a thousand, but now i know where to go when i eventually get a bike that might be worth stealing lol.

lojacks are worthless. they can be removed. had a buddy get jacked(no pun intended)that had low jack. called it in and the transmitter was found close to the bike was stolen. it's only so many places you can hide that thing.

A pro is going to be ahead of the curve- he'll know where to look and how to pull it off. That's why he's a pro. But considering how easy bikes are to steal, stands to reason that most thieves arent pros.

Any technology can be beat. The human mind is the most unpredictable factor to throw into any equation- there's literally no limit to some of the shit we can come up with. Nature of the beast. The lojack doesn't guarantee you'll get your ride back- there are NO absolutes in life except death- but I'd say it seriously increases your chances.

Gear doesn't guarantee you'll survive a spill at 100+ or even at 50+ but I see ALOT of guys spending a shitload of money on it and wearing it. Increasing your chances is key to succeeding in all walks of life.

eh they would hit you with a law suit and probably win :(

Stake out would be good but you might need more than 3 people. If the bad guy has a gun or is with more than one person i think they would be more inclined to give up against 10 people rather than 3. only one person might need a real gun. i think 8 or 9 people with airsoft guns for "look" might work.

How about a remote control trigger to shut the bike off?
Or a trigger to lock the handle bars in place :) lol

or hell, shoot him up with paintball guns or rubber bullets

So the question is, how to build a better bike alarm?

how about a slip-on "dash only" cover with 30,000-volt handlebar covers? betcha they wouldn't see that coming!

or a wheel-mount movement detector which sets off pepper spray?

hmm, maybe not.

"Hello police dep't? I'd like to file an attempted theft report. No, I don't need to fill out any paperwork. Actually my bike's been kicked over and I'd like for someone to pick it back up, just don't touch the handlebars. And could you get someone to ride it home for me? Everytime I get near it my eyes water and I start choking...
