View Full Version : Insanity workout.....

After looking at myself in my honeymoon photo's, I was disgusted with how out of shape I got. So I went on craigslist and bought the insanity workout to drop legit fat off my body. It's straight cardio and plyometrics....no weights
I've been in shape most of my life, but after my wife and I had our daughter last June, I kinda just stopped working out hardcore. Don't get me wrong, I still worked out, but it wasn't the same. My runs were mostly 1-2 miles instead of 4-6, and I didn't have the drive to hit the gym hard.
I decided to post up on my facebook and motohouston to make sure I stay motivated since people I know will see the results as they come about.
I will do the workout everyday according to the calendar getting 1 day off per week. I've also gotten back to a more responsible diet. I will cut out alcohol completely. I don't smoke, so that won't be an issue. I will be using no supplements, only a protein shake after every workout.
Here's a "fit" me, and a fat me. Ideally I'd like to get back down to a clean 175, and be in even better shape than my honeymoon picture.....but I have a long way to go.

BTW I'm on day 4, and have finally worked through the initial soreness. My mom is also doing the program to lose about 20 pounds as well. We have a little wager on who can show the most % improvement on the fitness test day 1 vs day 60.

Yeah, I went on craigslist and got the bootleg version for $50, but honestly, it came with everything. All calendars, plans. Nothing was .pdf files Everything looked 100% identical to my neighbors authentic copy.

found me a $60 copy as well.. Came with everything i believe is in the authentic package. I think it's a bootleg, but its such a good quality i could care less. Came with the book, chart, and the 13 discs. Hope I can keep it up. Looks intense!

So what is this workout like?
All videos are about 30-45 mins.
Warmup is about 10 mins
He basically does 3-5 minute of straight cardio /plyometrics...then a 30 second break for the duration of the workouts.

Did the fit test today. That sucker had me sweating. And that warmup? That's like a mini workout in it's own. Lol! Lots of cardio and iso/plyometrics.

I bought my Insanity for like 200 bucks with shipping. No, not all are 30-45 mins. Most are but when you get to month 2 i believe they get to 60+ mins. It's sooo hard. I keep starting it, then stopping.... I need to start back on day 1 =[[

I was in far worse shape than you starting off, but i'm slowly makin some headway.

I want to try this. I have p90x, but there is nowhere in the apartment to put my pull up bar. The best shape of my life was obtained with no equipment (Army basic), so it should work fine.

Day 7 (P90x), lost 10lbs,even my hair hurts, go to Walmart and buy a pull-up bar that hangs from any door jam

:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy: Great job! Keep it up!
My girlfriends and I start ours on June 1 (when I return from Czech). I can't wait! We have the P90X, but I wanted to do the insanity strictly because there is no extra equipment needed. :thumb:
I probably won't post up before/after pics until after... :D

i'm in the same boat as you. i have doorways, just not the little framing to hang the pullup bar off of since all my walls are flush with the doorways.

it's definitely only for people who can stay motivated. because the workouts do beat down your body, but in a good way.

What's sad is that you look 150% in better shape in your original "out of shape" 205 lb pic than I do now.
Pretty sad for me.

Latest update
I still weight 200 lbs, but my body composition is still changing for the better. It's really hard for me to completely change my diet since my wife cooks awesome dinners. But I've cut out all drinks except water

Keep up the work man...you can see a big difference from pic 1 to pic 3 :thumb:

I'm gonna have to start mine over. Had a Number of setbacks. First is was the tendons in my arm( couldn't extend fully), then it was the severe ankle sprain from playing basketball. I got a solid month in, and I can tell the difference. Maybe in a few more weeks I can run and jump again. I can barely walk without pain now... Good luck!

Any updates Flip?
unfortunately no.
ive been off and on with the workouts. i havent gotten 1 consistent 7 day week in 2 months because of my work schedule, my wifes work schedule, and my daughter being sick for about 2 weeks.
i weighed myself a few days ago, and i was at 195....but my body feels the same.
my cousin who's been doing the workouts on a daily basis since I started back in may, finished the full program. he lost 25 pounds, and looks 10 years younger. it's truly amazing what this program has done for him.

Mini update...after months of inconsistent workouts...i decided to try the fit test again and see what my numbers were.
While they were still better than my 1st fit test results, they were either equal to or down 10% from the 2nd fit test.
My daughter is back to normal and will go to sleep for a full night, my knee bursitis is pretty much gone, and I am trying to get back on track.
