View Full Version : Where can I ride easy trail riding?

I've been trying to teach my husband and our daughters, how to ride our street/trail bikes that I bought a year ago, but don't really know where to take the bikes (and us!). It must be easy terrain (not like the National Forest). We live in West Houston (Beltway 8/I-10). I'd like to stay within 50 miles from home if possible. I'd appreciate any input!
Thanks,
Denee'

My youngest Alexis, 16y/o learning in a parking lot near our home.

is that the stratford parking lot? i live in that area and i have the same problem finding places to ride. i usually just stick to parking lots and my neighborhood. i always wanted to go to that place right behind the hummer dealership. there are some hills that they test drive the hummers on :eek3: but i want to try to jump them

how old is your other daughter :happy3: JK!

take them to the nearest www.msf-usa.org class nearest you. i teach at the closest to you, SPring Branch ISD, bingle and I-10, 713-365-5660 $165 this month.

90% of rider deaths are people who are self taught or taught by family friends. let them learn from a professional.

also get them some gear.

Denee is a seasoned B group rider at trackdays. She can do a more than sufficient job teaching her fam how to ride.

you post at HSN or TWT?

Denee

Thank you Steve for the nice comment! I have been riding since I was 17, and my first bike was a brand new '74 XL350 and a variety thereafter. I've paid some dues, crashed here and there, but still kicking!!!

I havent posted on HSN for a while; I've been mainly on TLzone.net since owning a TLR, and it's difficult to keep up with all the sites to give decent attention to. You know it takes time to sit and go through all the things on these sites.
I'm hoping this may be a site I can hang out with for a while since being close to home, kind of new with new people and an awesome track being so close and from a short time a looking at this site, the owner is close by and interacting?
I'm not the best rider in the world, but I'd like to think that I have learned a great deal and still axious to learn, and definitely want my children to take part in such a fun invigorating activity!!

Denee! Where have you been?
Haven't seen you around!
What's going on?
Do you still have RS250?
Do you still come out to track?
Good to see you again!

I'm a motocrosser and i can tell you that Three Palms is the last place you should take a family to learn to ride. The track isn't free to ride also, it's $15 per rider. www.threepalmsextremesportspark.com

i know denee, and i still stand by my MSF recommends. honda of houston was associated w/ a dirt intro course. give them a call.

it's not that she doesn't have the skill or knowledge, but it's the material covered. she doesn't have a structured lesson plan, or a lesson plan in general........pretty much.......lets practice this.........lets practice that........oh yeah this.........vs. a structured lesson plan.

Hi Denee,
If you are looking for a place to ride, there is some property down in my neck of the woods that's free(the owner is cool with people riding db's and 4 wheelers

Also pelican island in galveston.)

Glad you joined, we need more female riders(not curb monkeys)

Will your family be coming to the bbq? Have you ridden msr yet?

And what, other site owners don't participate ? Lol

I'm going to check into the three palms place and Spring creek, and I thank you for the information people!
Denee'

PS: HI Nut! I've had kind of a bad several months due to a reoccurring back problem and some other nagging problems. I won't go into detail, but I'm getting better and able to ride my bike again. I did sell my RS250, but in love with my TLR if I can ever get it running full time! lol I may not be at the track as much as I would like mainly due to the heat! It just seems hotter these days! I did buy an RS50 to play with, and may even bring it to a trackday sometime. other that than, not much going on.

Sorry about the problems you had to go through.
I won't go into detail, either.
But I had my fair share as well, if that makes you feel better.:hs:
Glad you got an RS50.
Bring it out to MSRH!
That track should fit your new toy just fine. :icon_thum
Hope to see you soon.

Solracer~ interesting name! I'm very pleased to make your aquaintence but would like to know your name if you please! and your baby Chris is adorable! A future racer?
I haven't been out to your track yet. My husband and I did take a drive to find it (which was easy), but the officers/security wouldn't allow us to come in. I just assumed (hate that word) that it was totally private, until some people at this past track day in cresson informed us of this site, and here I am finding out more and more, and even more anxious to meet you and your establishment. I excitedly informed my husband of the BBq, and hope to bring whoever's available out there that day. This sounds very rejuvenating and looking forward, even if it's just me!
Sincerely,
Dnee'

Supermann~ I appreciate your telling me; I wouldn't have known if you didn't tell me. It's not the money, it's the availabity of turf to ride on.
