Improve my braking power on my '05 GSXR 750

I was told to change the brake fluid and put on a steel brake line to improve my rear brakes. What brand fluid/wt. What brand brake line?

change it with dot4 brake fluid and SS lines will also help. since the bike is newer i would think the brakes are suitable for street, especialy the rear.

70% of the stopping power is dont by the front but i rarely use the rear aggresively enough to need improvement. why are you looking to upgrade?

yea man.. its all about the front...

i use combo of both when i have to make a really abrupt stop.. other than that rear break is something i keep my foot on at a stop light to let idiots behind me know to slow down....

and only use DOT 4

i didnt really see much difference with new fluids and steel lines. but upgraded pads makes the most difference. steel line and fluids can only be felt on the track, on the street they dont get hot enough to make a difference to me.

The fluid isn't going to matter (unless it's real old and you've never changed it). The steel lines will help. They give you more feel and won't fade under heavy braking. I put a steel line on the rear but have regretted it. I locked it up a few times before getting used to the sensitivity.

thats what i said too, but stock is more than enough on the streets. you arnt constantly doing 100mph -> 60mph braking on the street unless you're some crazy dude.

I only use the Front Brake. Don't waste you money doing anything to the rear brake. Pads and lines HH style is good enough for you. Looking at around 125-150 bucks to make that improvement. Need to get you suspension set up if you do all the brake stuff.

+1... the rear is already easy enough to lock up, adding steel braided lines will only make it more touchy. The steel lines basically take the spongyness out of the brakes because they don't expand... stock lines are rubber and expand when the brake is squeezed.

The braking power increase will not come from changing out fluid and the lines-you can get that from the contact elements only (pads and rotors) Though my bet for the rear wheel you probably are good enough with stock.

Changing out the lines and fluids will improve feedback-though my bet is most people are probably better off with a less delicate rear brake as Steve O Chap points out the reason why.

In the past my path forward is pads to front and rear. Only swap the lines in the front though.
