Okay, so on December 28th I had finally talked myself into Accupuncture Stapling for Weight Loss. The claim is that your appetite will be decreased and if you "Feel Full" you "Eat Less"

For me - IT WORKS!!! The first week my left ear (Addiction Point) was "Active" so I ate about half the food on my plate before feeling full. The 2nd week my right ear (Stomach Point) went active and I didn't feel hungry at all! I had to FORCE myself to eat because I knew I needed to have calories for energy. My left ear is once again active, but as a reference. I used to be able to eat a Chipotle Burrito Bowl that in one sitting - Now I can barely finish 1/3rd before I am STUFFED to uncomfortable!

Down 10lbs since I had my ears pierced! Because of my results, Squoddy had hers done a couple of days ago, but I'll let her tell you her results!

Here is the link to the Chiropractor/Acupuncturist who did mine. And, I will attempt to upload a photo later tonight!

 I'm not hungry at all. I forced a Kashi bar and a handful of sunflower seeds down about 1, but that was it. Even at the bbq yesterday I barely finished 1/3 of my t-bone (which was cooked to perfection). I like food, so this makes me a little sad.

I know I need to eat, but don't wanna - never felt like this before.

BTW - no pain, no nausea - I can barely tell they're there. I don't have to tap them to activate them, either. They seem to be constantly active, and the more days into it, the less I eat.

So far :thumb:

the left one hurts a little, the right one no pain at all. I ate a sammich and ate the entire thing but realized i shouldnt have about 10 minutes after as i am miserable now. I usually eat 2 sammiches so seems to be working. :thumb:

I'm a little uneasy about all of this, not that it means much to anyone, but still

So, you're all losing weight by cutting back on calories. That's a good thing, but is there also a change in lifestyle so you can maintain it? I just have a feeling that with something providing a temporary supression of your appetite that unless there is a lifestyle change and a change in the food you eat (not just amounts) then it's likely the weight wont stay off.

Just my opinion, but to me this is only a patch and not a fixed solution.

I am working out, watching what I eat (for the most part) and had the staple done to help control the amount I eat before I get full. This was not just a quick fix for me. I lost 9 lbs before getting the staple done but could not stop the stress eating and over eating which seems to be under much better control now but still not even close to pre baby size which is where I would like to be again.

I not only wanted to lose the weight but also tone back up which inlays the healthier eating, and working out. :icon_thum

I have also already started eating healthy. plus, I added some exercise and walking into my schedule. There's no such thing as a short term diet... I think we know that. Meaner has added exercise, as well- which is HUGE for her! haha.
The staples are an appetite suppressant and nothing more. :)

I have to agree man. I'm wishing you girls the best though.

But I will say, that the three women in this thread are the last women I would think need to lose any weight. All three of ya look perfect!

psssh. This type of weight loss control is strictly vanity lbs. We are all just above where is deemed healthy and where we want to be. Its not long term or permanent. =)

Well I am about 30lbs above healthy BUT I did not gain that much just because I had a bad lifestyle. It is baby weight that has yet to go away.now saying that I jave never had a problem staying within 10 lbs of where I "should be".and this will HELP (not cure) along with my diet and excersise.

Technically there are 4, but the 4th shall not be named by me.

Thing is, it's 21 days to a new habit. Maybe once we get used to eating less, we will automatically eat less later. I happen to work nights. The temptation to snack all night long with no thought to how much I was actually eating was severe.

When I got the "Wii Fit" for Christmas it told me what I already knew... Over-Weight. Now, that is not to say HUGE or FAT, but 15 minutes a day on the Wii is not gonna shed the lbs like I hope. Squoddy wasn't lying about me and exercise. I DON'T! A new frame of mind was more important.

Some have claimed this is a Placebo. So my question is this, if a placebo cures your cancer - are you still cured? Does it matter if it's a "sugar pill?" The answer to me is NO! If I lose the weight because I am more conscious of what I actually eat - Then WOO HOO! I'm still losing the weight.

My goal is to be the size I was when I started MH. That's another 18lbs and not an unreasonable goal!

To each their own when dieting is concerned but. . .I'd rather see these girls (and guys) have their ears "stapled" with a surgical staple using age old acupuncture than swallowing "diet pills". If the stapling deosn't work for you, take it out!! Probably won't hear too many people having heart attacks and dropping dead from a tiny staple in their ear. After seeing this thread, my better 1/2 got her ears stapled and has been happy with the results. Diet, exercise, and 2 staples and she's on her way back to bikini season. . .Her results are already noticeable. Keep it up Ladies!

And would these keep you from wearing ear bud style headphones? I found out this weekend the hard way that I NEED music when I ride!

Interesting...

http://health.howstuffworks.com/health-illness/wellness/physical-fitness/weight-loss/ear-staple1.htm
"Whether you think it's going to work or not, there are some things to keep in mind if you're thinking about giving ear stapling a shot. First, piercing anything on your body can lead to an infection, and piercing cartilage increases this risk. Also, piercing can be a big deal if you hit a nerve or other important body structure. So don't take the procedure lightly. Second, ear stapling is not well regulated (if it's regulated at all). Don't just walk into somebody's house who has a medical-looking setup and submit to getting stapled. Find someone who is a certified acupuncturist trained specifically in ear stapling. And most of all, remember that even the most ardent supporters of ear stapling say it works best if you also eat healthy and keep yourself active. It's likely that you'll achieve similar results if you leave out the staple and just focus on the food and exercise."

Quite a few studies including this one:
"Sun and Xu62 used a standardized treatment of auricular acupressure + body acupuncture over a 90-day period in 110 subjects compared to 51 controls (randomized 2 to 1). Those in the control group received only an herbal supplement, Oenothera erythrosepala, evening primrose oil (1500 mg twice a day), which is high in italic gamma-linolenic acid. The treated group had significantly greater reductions in weight (5.0plusminus2.3 vs 2.1plusminus1.6 kg; P<0.01) and body fat percentage (3.0plusminus1.6 vs 1.5plusminus1.0%; P<0.01)."

And a few more;
http://www.liebertonline.com/doi/abs/10.1089/jwh.2005.14.434?cookieSet=1&journalCode=jwh
Not quite the same technique, but...
"Electroacupuncture showed significantly greater percent reductions in BW (p = 0.009, 0.004), BMI (p = 0.008, 0.016), and WC (p = 0.013, 0.006) compared with sit-up exercises or no intervention."
http://www.worldscinet.com/ajcm/35/3506/S0192415X07005429.html
"Weight was lost significantly in subjects in the electroacupuncture group compared to those in the diet restriction and placebo electroacupuncture groups (p < 0.000, Tukey test). Modulations in serum immunoglobulin G (p < 0.001) were apparent in women treated with electroacupuncture compared with women treated with placebo electroacupuncture and restricted diet only."

Good luck ladies.

$50 for both. I have no idea how it would affect wearing buds- Toni had a lot of pain, but mine was minimal.
