These are the brake calipers for Gary's (dudewhrsmybike) baby.
2 layers gold and one layer high gloss fuel resistant clear = 4 trips through the oven each.
first media blasting them clean, and trip through the oven to "out gas" the metal.
then out to cool down and then taping all critical spots with high heat tape and a layer of gold and in the oven again.
then out of oven to cool and then the letters sanded clean, then taped the letters with high heat tape and cut them out with a razor blade.
then another layer of gold and through the oven again.
Then cool again and off with the letter tape and then a layer of high gloss clear and through the heat again... then cool, snap a picture or two and wrap em up.
pictures didnt come out so swell, kinda dark, the gold really looks wet with the gloss topcoat.
The textured metal gives the gold a crazy look while they are actually flat with the smooth clear coat. I think they look a lot better in person , hopefully he will take better pictures than I did and show em off.

Nice!
How'd you get the texture? The metal underneath was already textured as if sand cast? Does powdercoating always reveal the metals texture? Or can it be smoothed out?
Just curious and thinking of bits I want PC'd. :D

the texture is exactly that, the cast texture of the caliper mold.
You can take the time to smooth them, but it makes the gold look wicked and the clear makes it all smooth to the touch, looks textured but isn't...if that makes any sense.
