You know, real world, I don't really know what the answer is. I do know we are having an economic problem and to deny its happening and as to why it is so, would be severly asinine.
Is the answer to start going after the companies who are hiring the illegal workers? is that where we start?
I do know it is up to me to hire, and I have tossed applications already because of their non citizen status. I refuse to be part of the problem by hiring them.
Basically, I guess I too am granting amnesty of sorts to a couple of guys we have, I know I am wrong in doing so, they are super guys, hard working men and full of great attitude and good work ethics. I know they are not citizens though, although they are learning the language and trying hard, I doubt either of them will go ahead and try to get US citizen status.
I feel it makes me as bad as the government I am bitching about.

i was saying just the other day on here. if they want to come over, i can't say i blame them. as a matter of fact, more power to them because i know each one of us would be doing the same damn thing. i hate that they NEED to come over here so badly, wish they could fix things but i'm not going to reprimand them for coming illegal

exactly, I agree, you can not blame them, I agree 100%
its out governments fault for not enforcing the laws already in place.
in fact mexico has its southern borders closed and guarded and handled properly, its us that isnt doing right and I severly agree with you on this. I would do the exact same thing for myself and family.

once you work with them and get to know them as people it helps a lot. lots of non-resident contractors working around us. they are good, decent people.

i think we have enough leverage w/ NAFTA and all of that and with talks of making it further reaching into South America we could maybe make a big difference.

I'm sure we do and that is the right way to start with all of this, but do you think our government will?
no, I don't either
