I usually work out at night when I get off of work cause im not a morning person, but I found a mens health that I must have set aside and never read. There was an article that was explaining the best time to work out is when you first wake up. It stated that this is the time when your bodies core temp is at its lowest so you can get a longer harder work out before you body will over heat. I might start waking up earlier to start trying this see if it works. Anyone already do this?

Thats nice, but Id have to get up at 3 am to get the same workout. That shit isnt happening

how long is your workout? I go for bout 1 1/2 hours, I try to keep it short. 30 min run for cardio then to the weights, less reps and more weight. then finish it up on stairs for about 30 min to cool down

Doesnt matter what time a day you work out. Also switch up your order weights then cardio. Also you can cut cardio/ stair master time to just 30, if you want cause its not going to help you as much as your weight lifting.

I got a membership to 24 hour a while back. Went a few times but always ran into people I knew and it was just too distracting.
I haven't been active at all since I got out of the Marine Corps. However, started playing softball and I mountain bike when I get the chance. As soon as I get some money put aside I am going to start cycling (road bike) to shed some weight. Doing those things alone I lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks. However, I just quit smoking so the weight loss has stopped. I am not gaining weight like most people do when they quit smoking, which is good, but I am not losing it anymore either........

It might help wake you up no doubt but there is no need to be in the gym for 3 hours a day. Your body needs rest as much as it needs to workout. More time spent in the gym (over a certain time) does not equal more results. I think you will see a bigger difference if you switch up your order.

I work out first thing in the morning and it helps get me going for the day. I need to start hitting the weights a couple afternoons after work.

Whoa woman slow down, I dont work out for 3 hours! Hour and half work out does fine. I would still be getting the same sleep instead of working out at night I go to sleep earlier and start a program in the am.

Oh yeah I know you dont but bob was saying he does. But like I said time of day its really going to matter that much cept wake you up so dont expect a super change beyond that whats going to make a difference is what you are doing and eating. :thumb:

Eh sorta. I have my degree in fitness and human performance. I just never got my certs to train after my internship working at NASA's gym doing it. People only want to hear what they want not the whole picture just whatever is easier for them to digest then if they dont see any results after the first time they quit. I have yet to develope a pacience for that. Maybe in the future. I love the field though and am always reseraching to gain more knowledge, I do not claim to know it all.

I totally understand about not overworking, But to build muscel mass and build it right, you need to do many different exercises. And that takes time, Plus you have to factor in time waiting for a bench, ( which is rest time) or waiting for a machine to free up.

I Kill a set of muscels, and give them 3 to 4 days to recover while I work out other groups. but since I plan on racing next season, I need to thin out. So Im doing alot of just cardio. not much eles. Need to loose fat, lean out my muscle and learn how to ride a bike.

I've tried every time of day & length of workout variation known to man. I've hit the weights at all intervals of the day from 5AM all the way to as late as midnite.

When I work out in the morning, I find that I have more energy and am more productive throughout the entire day. When I work out in the evening, I either feel dog ass tired, or am so pumped that I can't fall asleep.

Working out in the morning is pretty sweet if you are a member of one of the larger gyms, (24, Gold's, etc) cuz in the morning, you can actually get a bench, or find dumbbells (that haven't been slung around the gym haphazardly by all the meatheads)

I usually like to hop on a bike for about 10 - 15 minutes to get my heart rate up a little, and then do a short but focused weight routine in the neighborhood of 45 minutes. I finish up with about 30 minutes of cardio, bringing my total workout to about 1.5 hrs.

As far as lifting, I'm doing a 5-day split, so 45 minutes gives me plenty of time to work whatever body part I'm on. I used to lift for over an hour, hour and a half, and I felt like towards the end, it just felt like I was droning on, mindlessly, and although I was pushing the weight, it wasn't purposefully.

I support shorter workouts with higher intensity. Long-ass weight routines mean either one of two things, 1 - you're not pushing yourself hard enough, or 2 - you're resting too much between sets.

yep diet you screw up what you eat it don't matter what you do, I like working out in the middle of the day and lifting is better than cardio for losing weight I lost 25lbs last year eating right and lifting.

I work out late at night....mainly because i find any other time during the day
50% of the people there are there to hang out and people watch
20% are there just going through motions that they did no reserach on (tie up the stations)
20% just throw as much weight on the machines so that everyone can see what they can lift (tie up stations)

and only about 10% of the people actually know what they are doing. If you are mainly looking for loosing weight find a sport that you enjoy playing (for instance i LOVE basketball and can play for hours on end and never get bored), and pick up swimming.

But as stated....diet and rest are just as if not more important than the workout
