I'm hosting another ride to the RideSmart event at MotorSport Ranch Houston in Angleton on Saturday, August 22nd. The route will be twistie (Crab River Rd) and the pace will be conservative so new riders & 2up riders are welcome to join.
Meet Spot 1:
Shell Station at Hwy 290 & Hwy 6
8:30 - Meet & Greet:
8:45 - Rides Meeting
9:00 - Kick Stands Up
Meet Spot 2:
PP1 - Starbucks at Westheimer and Post Oak Blvd. One block west of loop 610 on Westheimer.... Right across from the Galleria.
Time:
9:30 - Meet and Greet
9:45 - Riders Meeting
10:00 - Kick Stands Up
The following gear is required:
Helmet, jacket, gloves and boots/shoes that cover the ankle.
Knee guards and back protector are recomended, but not required.
Please do not show up without your gear.
We should arrive at MSRH pretty close to 11:00. We will be allowed to sit in on a level 1 or 2 classroom session or two before the parade laps (a few brisk laps around the track). You will again be allowed to sit in on more classroom sessions after the parade laps if you wish. This is a great opportunity to see how a trackday works. If you are a new rider, DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS!
I will not be returning until late in the day. You are welcome to hang out with me for the day or leave whenever you wish. MSRH is right off Hwy 288, so finding your way back to Houston is very easy.
Any new riders that come on this ride (that have never done a trackday) will get a coupon for free leather rentals for their first trackday with RideSmart. Be sure to get with me so I can get you the coupon.

Thank you Deano3090.
Everyone who wishes to ride parade laps MUST have the appropriate gear. Details on gear requirements are HERE (http://www.motohouston.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67001).
We would hate to stop any of you from enjoying the laps, but it is for the safety and fun of everyone involved.
Thank you.

If you have never done a trackday, GO ON THIS RIDE.
Nice ride beforehand, learn a little bit from the instructors you see around, and then experience the track a more comfortable pace (parade laps).
I did it last time and it was a freakin blast.
I'm now cornerworking this event, or else I'd go. That should tell you how it was like...

All are welcome to join the ride. Last time there were some guys that ran the route at their own pace ahead of conservative group. I'm sure some of those same guys will be joining us if you would like to run the route at "your own pace".
The conservative group will have a leader and sweeper. No one will be left behind.
Please help spread the word of this ride to any new riders that you know. What they learn from this experience could save their life some day.

I'd like to meet up with you guys at the track around 11 if that's alright. I have to watch my kids until 9:30 or so that morning, but should be able to make it there in time. I've been wanting to make these parade laps the last few track days...

Yeah, that will be cool.
I'd just like to add if you do "sit in" on a classroom session, please let the riders that have paid for instruction sit in the chairs. The classroom usually fills up since it's kinda small, & it would suck to stand up for 30 mins for something you paid for b/c some that didn't pay are taking up the spots.
It's kinda like cutting in the food line in front of those riders that paid for the track day when you rode up for the parade lap...let those on a limited schedule go first & have priority.
I don't mean to be rude, just a friendly suggestion. Sometimes you just forget. I do recomend if you're interestesd in track riding sitting in on a few sessions, so you can see what you'll be getting. It's even better when you attend the whole day, tho! See you guys there!
+1 Seats in the classroom will be reserved for paying customers first. Rules for guest will be gone over at the drivers meeting, but it's pretty much just reminding everyone that the paying customers have the right of way.

good for you for organizing this, & encouraging ppl to get to the track! Although now you will be to blame for their addiction!:keke:
It's all good.
It's good to know that I helped with them become better riders.

It really depends on how the day is going. I've seen them do as many as 5 laps on days that the school was running on schedule..... but it have never seen them do less than 2 laps.

There was also a few people that I talked to at ASI on wednesday that said they were coming.
Looks like we will have another good turn out.
Please help spread the word to any new riders that you know that would benifit from this experience. Help contribute to them becoming better/safer riders.
.... and best of all, IT"S ALL FREE!

Where are the classrooms out there, or a spot you guys will meet up at?
I've been to the track to watch a couple of times, but didn't really pay attention to the buildings...

PaulThe class room is the last building on the left as you face the Mercedes Benz cars that are on display

..... and the level 2 classroom is ussually upstairs in the building before the last
If you are looking for us, there should be a group of 15-20 bikes rolling in about 11:00 to 11:15. We will park somewhere close to the track entrance, but well out of the way of the trackday participants.
