Sweat from the time I stepped out of the house at 4:30AM until just now. Sweet Jesus the humidity was unreal.:angry7:
Fantastic turn out. Sold out level 1 and 2. Had 12 guys in Ty Howards class and Level 4 was near capacity.:thumb:
Track Marshalls and Corner Workers did a fantastic job keeping things running smoothy.
I was recooperating from the heat while it happened, but I heard there were 60 parade lap riders.:eek3: Probably more like 40...:keke: But still a great turn out.
What else can I say? Another great Ridesmart Track Day.:notworthy:

Thanks again to you and the other instructors in lvl 1. You all did a great job. I just woke up from passing out after riding home. I learned a lot and will apply the knowledge. Out of curiosity, at what point do you recommend I get a new rear tire or a new set of tires (street or track oriented)? Or should I just stick to what I have now which are street bt016s?

This was your first track day, right? It really depends on how quickly you progress. I wouldnt worry about it right now though.:thumb: BT016's are good tires. I run them on my street bike, the same bike I was helping level 1 with today.

Okay it was an awesome day, and incredibly HOT!
I want to start of by thanking dave wonders and his wife Ha for a well organized and awesome trackday at msrh, and especially Dave for all that he has done for me.
Next I want to thank Ty Howard for being there helping me get it together and make me get faster, and also Ricky Jordan too. You guys are awesome and super fast. I finally know the Ty Howard line. I ran I best ever time today thanks to these guys.
I want to thank everyone that was there helping me in the pits, you know who you guys are.
Again thanks Ridesmart for an incredible day at msrh

...an unbelievable day, that is for sure.
Although not as hot as it usually was this summer, the humidity did the trick on many of us.
It was great to see all those people sticking with us in class every session until the end of the day, almost. After we finished all the curriculum, it was also great to see things coming together for people, and seeing them turn laps almost twice as fast.
Overall, I think a superior success. It has been a while since I have seen soooooooo many parade lap riders. I tried to give them a nice pace to deal with, and hope it was liked by some...if we did any more than the laps we did, we would have started lapping riders in the back of the line. I did not count how many attended but it was a biiig number.
Great job everyone, the day went very smooth...ambulance did not roll one time...very few downs and a few drive offs.
This MSRH track is starting to grow on me...hmmm, what am I trying to say here... :D
All you folks who helped us during the event, and those who had some great fun - thank you for attending and we do hope to see you very soon.
OK, now it is time to sleep.

It was a great day and Ridesmart seems much more organized than the last time I road with them. Thanks for a great day...a little hot, but fun.
The only complaint I have is the cold tear I was getting on my rear tire. John and I figured out the issue. We were having to sit on the grid for a really long time. I waited five minutes after they called our group to the staging area and the corner workers were still not back in place after lunch. Had to wait an additional 5 minutes on the grid. Not complaining at all; just giving some honest feedback. :thumb:

it was a fun time for sure. i definitely upped my pace this time around since i had a lot more seat time on my new track bike. i finally grew some balls and started passing on turns as well as straights.
all was going well until the long right going into the back straight, I had the bike a little too open with a rear tire that was a little too worn and had my back end come way out, after which i immediately pitted in and got my other 003 put on.
my goal was to get more consistent lines, which i felt like i did. so i had a great day
unfortunately, no video will be posted this time because when I transferred files from the mem. card to the computer, they all became corrupted somehow.

I have to say that I had a blast yesterday, although I felt pretty phuggin light headed the last session before we went for lunch. The humidity was beatin everyone up but there was plenty of water around the paddock and in the classrooms. Ty's class helped me out tremendously. Very glad I took his class and I will continue to work on his instructions.
Its been a while since I've gotten an accurate lap time @ MSRH and was very pleased with my result. Lap timers started workin on the last session of the day for me and I squeezed out a time .003 slower than Jose (the next rossi). Very proud of the kid and his progression. Now I have to hop on the ball and improve myself.
I still have tons to improve but overall very happy with how yesterday went.
I'm glad my brother came out and rode half a day, got to show him some lines and he improved so much from his last time. I think Labareboy needs to chase him down before he can find me...

yeah yeah...... another awesome track experience with RideSmart.
I ended up riding the second half of the day in level 4 after my noob ride out to the track for parade laps. I want to thank Dirk Anderson for dropping what he was doing to tech my bike in the middle of the day. All of the RideSmart staff did an awesome job keeping my trackday fast and smooth.
Thanks guys...... It never fails that you make my last trackday the best one ever!

I also had a great day in level 2 until after the last session which I had to cut short dues to cramps. Shortly after, I passed out, threw up, and fell over all in one motion.
Thanks to the paramedics for checking me out, and to the 3 girls who called them that I undoubtedly scared the shit out of.
Overall, a great day out. This old man may wait until October to do another

Glad you are ok man.:thumb: After helping out level 1 all morning I decided to eat 2 cheeseburgers then go out in level 4 aroun d 2pm. Rode 4 laps, came in and came the closest I have ever come, to hurlin', because of heat. It was DEFINATELY humid.
Needless to say, I didnt go back out in 4 for any more hard laps.

So Will comes rolling into the pits pretty excited; I had rolled in a few minutes earlier. I was bitching and moaning about the heat and he says, "I ran faster than you that session". He's pretty damned proud of himself too. Earlier in the day, Will stuck a pass on me and I couldn't catch up. Anyway, I say "oh yeah". He says, come look at my timer. Not wanting to drag my rotundness out of the chair, I have him just tell me his time... 1:47.5. And he is PROUD.
I tell him, perhaps you ought to go look at my timer. 1:46.2... You should have seen the look on his face.
Score another one for old age and treachery.
And then CDill crushes us both... he had run a 1:44.2.

Im a level 1 rider. and this was my 2nd track day..
I felt that i should be in level 2, for the fact i was keeping my lines, and i wasnt getting past by anyone other than the 1k's on the straights.. and even then i took them on the turns..
Also level 1 was so fun, but yet overbooked. There was more level 1 riders out there then there should have been...
when i signed up and got my stickers. i over heard dave and shvolsky (i hope its spelt right, but you know who im talking about right? the russian)
level 1 was over 6 people when i signed up. and that was like 15 minutes after opening the doors.
just my .02cents, but there would have been alot less people going down/off track (in the 2nd session) if the track was not over booked.
but other than that i had a blast and looking forward to the next close track (MSR-H or TWS) you can count me in..

...you almost go the name right..well, not really.
...nationality? Nah, same thing.... :keke:
and you almost got the information right as well. :keke::keke:
Dave ended up reserving space for 4 people he knew were coming on the day so the cap was reduced online. We had 2 people who were registered beyond the roster list, and there was one space left on the day of the event, which means we had 1 person over roster.
Unfortunately you could not have known that since you were not in on the investigation I did in the am (Dave knows I monitor it all). I know people sometimes overhear things, but often what is heard is partial information, which is not necessarily accurate. I wanted to clear that up with you and provide you with accurate information about this particular day.
I thought people in level 1 were riding decent, although I would not say there were any level 2 people in there. There were some faster riders, but fast does not automatically mean better.
Instructors did see a whole bunch of erratic line takers especially the first part of the day, however that did improve later on. I did see a small group of riders who were zig zagging through other riders at one of the later sessions. Almost got black flagged - as I later found out - they were lucky checkered went up and they had to get off the track.
Glad you enjoyed yourself. We thank you for your business.
Take care.

lol yes, although I did see that special girl again  Wonder if she got interviewed....If you look back on the 25th of april I was that asian guy video taping in the background. Met some people that recognized me from then lol. It was fun and exhausting. I slept for 3 hours after I rode home.
The track was fun except that I kept missing the exit and mad some rookie mistakes. I missed it like 3 times! grrr :banghead:
And I did have some people pass me on the back straight even though I was pretty close to the edge! Watch it people!

mannn i had a super close call coming over the launch. i was going a wee bit too fast so i just went lower to stick to my line.. and then lower.. and lower.. and lower, and it got to the point where my peg scraped the concrete and just snapped in half
http://digitalremix.net/upload/uploads/1/10r_peg.jpg
after it snapped, then i heard a really loud screeching noise from my tires when they lost traction and the bike was pretty much ready to fall on its side, then all the sudden it just popped straight back up. i dunno how the hell i saved that lowside but it sure as hell woulda cost me a lot more than just a peg if i had gone down. never clenched my ass cheeks so hard before in my entire life lol.

I caught a convo that said he was fine. Heard he braked in a turn, shimmied and it slipped out at a slow speed. Track was cleared like 5 min after the parade laps. There was alot of space between riders on this one, so alot of people were going too fast and trying to catch up.

I was on the track during the parade laps. I had some guy in front of me actually using his turn signals into every turn. Right around the second or third lap I guess he came into the Keyhole to fast and locked the back tire up real good. I mean this tire was smoking. He went off road but I don't think he went down. I did hear at least two or three people went down or off road. Not sure if its true but I know I saw one guy go off road for sure. I also had some A-Hole pass me in a curve of all things. I think that about sums it up . Cali, kawirider600, and myself went to ride some parade laps at TWS after 3090 the other weekend. Doing a decent pace for a parade lap when a guy on a liter bike passes me in turn 13 and pretty much blows the turn and almost jumps the curb........ITS A PARADE LAP BUDDY .

what we know is that one person did ride off track, and may have gone down at a low speed. Picked their bike up and rode back in.
That is exactly why people should go learn how to ride better, and precisely the reason we require specific gear.
There were many people out there for the laps. Hope they did enjoy themselves though.

I can assure you this guy was down. I stopped because he couldn't pick his bike up by himself. I was watching behind for traffic and not paying much attention to what kind of bike it was but I would guess a black R6 with a bent rear brake pedal. Buck was running the rear of the pack and came up just as we got him back on track.

Thanks again RideSmart fo an awesome event yet again.
I decided to give Ty Howards class a shot and I can honestly say, for anyone who already spends the LOW LOW price of a RideSmart event there is no reason not to spend the extra money on this class. Ty did an awesome job of sharing some of his go fast tips along with just teaching a very informative class.
It was great meeting new friends in the class as well as seeing old faces out there that day. I would like to give props to Howard, for not only crashing once and getting up , but TWICE !!! He is a trooper, I cant wait for the video to be posted up.
Thanks again RideSmart , cant wait on the next one :thumb;

Right or wrong.
All Ridesmart can do is reiterate the rules, check gear, set the pace and send a few instructors out to police things.
If some people want to "hot dog" it...if they want to slow down, create a gap so they can get a run at a corner...what can you do?
It's good for them, to run off...to crash. It should REALLY put in to perspective just how elementary thier skills are that they would run off and/or crash on a fkn parade lap.:eek3:
If that is not a sign from God almightly that you need to hone your skills, I dont know what is.
Hopefully it was a wake up call to the few that ran off and/or crashed and we will see them, in class, at the next track day.
If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times...I dont care how many years of street riding experience you have...or how fast you are in comparison to your homies on the street....come get a taste of the track...and you will be humbled.:thumb:
Just my sorry ass 2 cents.:D

Howard is the man! I saw the video and holy crap!!! He got up and walked away from it, bike not so lucky... Matter of fact, that's one of the worst crashes I've seen in a long time.
Better on the track then on the street... He'd be dead if he did that on 3090

I had a great time. Spent most of the day trying to get the GSXR set up for the track. Sorry to everyone in the second session that saw the "rock" in the middle of the front straight. Yeah, that was the rubber boot from my ram air duct. I saw it come off and barely got my duct in my hand before it fell onto the track too. Had to run straight into pits........gggrrrrr......
I do have to say, RideSmart has done a great job of listening to riders this year. This event seemed way more organized than other events I have witnessed in the past. Great job on RideSmart for up'ing their game!!!

When I spoke to Dave he said that he thought the person went down but the way he said it, did not inspire confidence in me. I do trust that you describe what you observed. In any case, as Cdill said, those who ride like this in parade laps, if they do go down, it is a sure sign from God for them to pick up some skills.
Thanks for your help on the track.

Once again, Ridesmart did an excellent job.
There were some idiots out there though. I had one clown in level 2 come by me at about 14000 revs (when I was doing 35 because the red flag was out). I confronted him about it and he denied it, only to have his mate apologise for him a few minutes later.
The final session of level 1 took the biscuit though. I saw a bloke on a liter bike (who I initially thought was an instructor) bombing it into sugar and spice. He passed 6 people toward the end of the straight on the inside only to basically park it in the corner and stack everyone up. It was a black flag move if ever I have seen one. I think the session ended a couple of laps later, thank fcuk.
So, the dick head ratio was high on Saturday. That is what happens when the popularity of the organisation is so high, I suppose.
Again, no fault of Ridesmart...........just an observation

Did anyone else get stuck behind the big guy on the silver zx6r??? He'd come into the diamonds edge smooth, and then slam on the brakes. Another time I was passing him on the carousel and decided to back off because he couldn't hold his line.
I also had a really crappy session where I was sliding a bit around the turns, but after john put on my other rear 003's, I was a happy camper again.

He was ok. He would wave you by on the straights. Its the boys that park it in the turns and then go mental in the straights that drives me mad.
